[LE] Human-shaped Werewolf

Well, I respect both tx12001 and your opinion, skyquest32, and I do think it would be plain weird with just appearance alone (which is why I also ask for things such as aura effect or ghastly presence). While waiting for the answer around, I also tried poke around the site more and found that there're other people that have similar idea with mine, but seemingly given up since it was apparently "more difficult than it sounds". Guess I'll just have to bear with it until someone that have the same opinion with mine, but have the skills to do it, showed up with the mod.

Cheat, huh? I'll think about it, but I'm not sure I would use it since I'm worried that it might break the game. I mainly use a bow to snipe the enemy from distance. I used the werewolf form as a panic button when surrounded and resort to "violence and barbarism". And I don't know about the claw, but in terms of melee weapon, I could use another weapon (my favorite is dual daggers), so...yeah.

Sorry lofgren, but even if it was there, that's not what I'm searching for. What i want from the werewolf is simply the power it possess. I don't really ate the corpse of the enemy (perhaps only when necessary, but never before), since 150 seconds of "violence and barbarism" are usually enough to finish most of the enemies , and I don't really need it for quite a while afterwards. It's just that, when I used that "panic button", I want it appear more like "berserk mode on steroid" rather than "monstrous carnivore beast". I know I could use the orc's ability, but that sprint attack, that rapid attack, that roar, it's just...too valuable to simply pass (for me), especially when against those annoying giants that always OHKO me when they reached me.

Anyway, thanks for the respond and suggestion, everyone. I'll try to endure the werewolf appearance for now.

The only difficult part is giving access to the werewolf perks. It's easy enough to disable menus and activation while boosting your unarmed damage, and let you toss people around like cardboard, and grant you a werewolf howl. Even the feeding effect is script-based

The most complicated part would be that an entire Companions quest would have to be rewritten, because Bethesda made the choice to make the werewolf scripts and the Companions quest scripts integrated to a frankly foolish degree. But even that would be complicated, not difficult.

I don't think it is possible to give you access to the werewolf perk tree without turning you into a werewolf, but there are workarounds. Maybe give the human "transformation" as a second power so you still have to use the werewolf power once in a while to choose perks, or just give the perks automatically when you reach a certain number of feedings (It's easy enough to get all of them anyway).

Beast mode is a combination of one perk, a bunch of spells, and a few scripts. What you request is totally possible. Not that I'm saying I will do it, because it would also be time consuming. But it is possible.

I've had a similar thought to this. With the current set up of my mods and character, turning into a werewolf is essentially suicidal. I take too much damage and don't deal nearly enough to bother. I downloaded mods to crank up the werewolf power and fed the wolf a ton of hearts but it was still less powerful and durable than my regular form. I also didn't particularly like how it "handled" in third person or first person with an immersive view mod, so I didn't really bother. I ended up just making it an excuse to use "predator vision" and left it at that, although a mod which made it a "emergency steroid mass-carnage buff" would make me rethink that one.

It made me wonder about a "Wolfman" sort of thing that skews more toward the human side (still able to use armor) while giving special powers and advantage for unarmed combat. More like "Wolfman" than "American Werewolf" if that makes sense (movie references)?

Glad to hear someone with similar idea, GuytzaWraith. Well, speaking about playstyle, I still feel that Werewolf form is strong enough, especially with the perks available to it. Guess that depends on the player's preference, then. Anyway, about that "Wolfman" reference, that's close enough.

And lofgren, that's why I'm just asking whether it was possible to simply change the texture (which apparently wasn't an easy thing to do). Never thought it would be "that" hard until I posted this . I thought it would be the same as the Vampire Lord mod.

Its not that difficult to pull off. The more complex side of it would be to rip apart the companions script to find the exact point about werewolves. If you look at my mod Mutant Powers, you will see that the angelic powers run on a similar system you need to make your idea work. To get my mod to work I ripped apart the vampire script to find the exact segment I needed to make the angel transformation and then added that to a fire and forget script and voila transformation without needing the quest script.

Same thing here, if you find that exact point where the transformation happens in the character then your home free. See even though the werewolf form is insanely tied into the companions questline. If you find all the requirements the wolf form needs then you could make it work by calling those requirements to save on a potion drink or whatever you want to attach it to.

My angelic form takes about 5 scripts to run alone, as I said in the beginning its not complicated just a long process (a long process that fires in about a second). The longest part of the transformations is to figure out what part of the original script is needed.

Personally, I am actually planning out a mod that I want to overhaul the supernatural species of Skyrim. I find that you shouldn't be able to tell their supernatural unless they want you to know. So I planned on doing a disguised form (which hides there supernatural face) and a true form (self explanatory) and for werewolves they also have their full on wolf form. Basically taking what I did with the angel transformation and making the supernatural species work the same way (kind of like teen wolf and vampire diaries/the originals transformations). So if you could hold off for a little I'm going to make it, I'll post back once its finished.

*Edit: It won't replace the werewolf form though so its going to be a form before going full on wolf. I just re-read your posts so I wanted to clarify, in the mod I'm planning it would be a "teen wolf" werewolf transformation then you could kick it up a notch and go full on wolf. Also you would have wolf powers as a human werewolf in my mod.

The only thing is that I'll be working with both werewolf and vampires in one mod so if you want this overhaul you would also be getting the other one, since I wanted to overhaul both species.

So, if I'm reading this correctly, you'd get two powers from being a werewolf. Beast Form (original Werewolf) and "teenwolf form". Since they're not mutually exclusive you don't have to muck with the companion scripts too much if you dont want to. Someone like Aela or Skjor would be all about Beast Form even if they had another option and Farkas....doesn't seem the type to do things half way.

So a player like me, who dislikes the mechanics and effects of Beast Form, would likely opt for the more controlled Teenwolf, while another player, enjoying the Beast Form more would be more likely to hit that power.

Seems PERFECT. Absolutely PERFECT.

yeah it doesn't change anything for you, it will add a humanoid wolf form for you to play with; if you don't care about vampires then you could just ignore the vampire overhaul as it doesn't change anything unless you are a vampire.
