Koreno
This is my situation... I merged someones race mod with my retreat mod so I could use that new race to make some NPCs in my retreat. But when I tried to place the newly created NPCs into the building, I got errors. I am looking for an easy way to use the items from other mods in a new mod of my creation. I am thinking that the reason why I got the errors was that this race mod was originally an omod that when installed created the esp in my data folder. Would the easiest way to do it be by starting my mod and then merging it into the oblivion.esm master file using the CS Plugin? I am hoping that by doing this, the following would happen..... - I create my mod then merge it into the oblivion master.- Then I open the mod whose items I want to use as the active mod. And put the items or NPCs I wanted into the now default building or chest. Would this work?
Vagrant0
No. The thing that is probably causing the problems is the form ID's (those little numbers that mean everything). You're using forms that aren't valid in your main mod. As far as I know, the only way to use other people's stuff in your mod is to either merge them using the TES plugin utility, and hope that none of the form IDs conflict, or to remake those items from scratch in your mod. Converting the race to a master file, then loading it along with your mod in the CS might work, but to use it they would need to have converted their race to a master file too. Merging with the oblivion.esm is a BAD idea. Doing so will corrupt the master file with your stuff, effectivly ruining it, forcing you to have to reinstall. WarKirby3333
Be sure you have permission from the author of any mod before you merge. Otherwise I believe its breach of copyright. WarKirby
GBHis
Be sure you have permission from the author of any mod before you merge. Otherwise I believe its breach of copyright. WarKirbyI was going to post this. Koreno, you're talking about merging 4-6 mods in a mix of your own, and name it "Koreno's blabla". DID you get permission? @Vagrant0Actually, there's this nice little utility shipped (almost) bugfree (rare thing) with Windows. It's called Notepad, and can do it, too. :)Notepad has the power. You can change more things than even the CS allow you to change ;) -GBHis
