ICERAY2000
A link to the SITE NEWS would be helpful, since even if you disregard the malicious site warning, the resulting page is all TEXT! So what's the story? You might have posted even a hint - not saying anything could be construed as suspicious. evilneko
This post explains how to disable the warning if you use Firefox. I wouldn't want that enabled anyway, I mean, why would I want to tell Google about every site I visit? :whistling: In Chrome and most Chrome-clones (such as SRWare Iron and Chrome+), it's Options - Under the Hood - Uncheck "Enable phishing and malware protection." In Opera, it's under Settings - Preferences - Advanced - Security - uncheck enable Fraud and Malware protection.
Thandal
http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/240888-nexus-trojanvirus-alert/... Some idiot uploaded virus...Well, they are idiots, but they didn't upload anything to the Nexus site. An adserver which is allowed to use space on YOUR browser's display of the Nexus site, (unless you're a Premium user of course, or have other protective measures in place) was compromised and is thereby potentially presenting malware to YOUR computer, but the Nexus servers themselves have not been "infected" with anything. KDStudios
I use Internet Explorer 8 and I haven't even seen this on the fallout or oblivion nexus, but I did read in the news page about this.Seems pretty bad but otherwise it completely uneffected me =D By the way... there IS a link to the news page... Just go on Forums and click news and its on here. How hard can that be?
ICERAY2000
Well 9AM on Sat. and I can get back on now, so THANK YOU to whomever accomplished that! Also good to get the clarification that it was not nexus directly but a hosting site (right?).ANYWAY - the lesson to be learned here, I think, is that NEXUS needs to do a better PR job of finding ways to inform and reassure its users that they are aware and trying to do something. The one terse bit from an admin didn't help anyone. They couod have provided a link to the news, told us there was a link on the forum (I was not aware of that) thrown up a temporary landing page with an explanation,; something to reassure us.Second lesson is to consider some plan of action for the next time - oh, you don't think there will be a next time? There will be, padawan, there will be - these hacking morons have no sense, and fool me once, etc.Best of luck to the Nexus staff, and again, thanks for getting it back straight so soon.
ICERAY2000
Clarification - sorry; I just read the news page and it was an AD that was the culprit. I hate the intrusive ads anyway, especially the ones with sound - "refresh" - I'm pretty sure nexus doesn't do testing on every ad - that would be silly - I guess there should be more paying members and eventually the ads will not be needed? Ha! right - not needing advertising - what a concept! Well no harm done to my computer - and don't you have to INTERACT with the ADS in order for them to fire up and send you malware? Just being in the download box, or on the files page does not avail them the access to your computer, you have to be stupid enough to actually click on an ad - DON'T click them! ever! KDStudios
@ICERAYIn order to see the ads information must be sent to your computer... Basically whatever the ad is.So if malware is on an ad... it will be sent to your computer in order for us to see it.Just thought I'd point that one out =PHow do you think antivirus' realise theres malware of virus' on your screen? It gets uploaded to you =P
