Crash on Startup

hey, I recently put a new hard drive in my computer. So I had to reinstall everything. On the old drive, Oblivion worked perfectly. Even with a lot of mods. Now, a fresh install crashes a second after I hit play. and this is pure oblivion, game of the year, disc one. No patches, SI, nothing. I have Vista 64 bit. NVIDIA Geforce GTX 275. core i7. Asus P6T motherboard. 6 GB RAM. any ideas?

Go to your \Oblivion\Data\ folder and copy oblivion_default.ini. Now go to your \Documents\My Games\Oblivion\ folder. Paste the oblivion_default.ini and rename it to oblivion.ini. Now make sure there is a 'Saves' folder in the \Documents\My Games\Oblivion\ folder. Now restart the game FROM THE LAUNCHER.

Did you try to patch it? DONT! The patch is on the second disk. You can install the SI disk, and then do not check the Shivering Isles.esp if you do not want the SI to start right away. The Game will still play as Oblivion only until you check the SI.

Did you install in the default location? If so you may be getting harassed by the UAC. To avoid UAC problems while leaving it on to protect things that really do need to be protected. Reinstall outside of the default program files location. I recomend C:\Games\Oblivion (you will have to create the C:\games folder yourself.

I was having trouble after reinstalling, came across this in a search and it seems to have worked. Just wanted to thank you for the advice.
