Depression

First, YOU WILL GET BETTER.

I have also had these bouts of depression. I went to my college's therapist. I strongly recommend finding a counselor.

Just having someone to talk to, about anything and everything, with no worry of being judged. That helps immensely.

If you can't find a person when you need one, then write. Write anything. Pour your heart out in any way you can.

If you get those feelings out of you onto paper or just saying it out loud, you'll feel better.

I was a wreck, then one night, while I was trying to get to sleep. I was thinking about my parents, who are divorced. And I realized and said out loud, 'I blame myself for their divorce. But it's not my fault. It never was.' I felt a huge weight lift from me. I hated myself for it. Other things to, but that one was a huge relief.

Just hang on, and wait for the shift. Depression comes in waves. Keep your mind busy.

Find a counselor, write, compose music. Just express those feelings somehow, and then see how you feel.

Well...well that shouldn't be too hard. I have councilers right here trying to help me, and I'm already a natural writer...

Hope always comes too late doesn't it...

Nope...hope is always there...waiting for you to clear the way to see it.

All good stuff, Z. (Even if you are a "candybutt")

You'll be fine.

No matter how bad the world looks, below surface appearances is a place very much worth living in. Good people are out there-just look at the worthies who have posted here! But it's worth holding on.

I've had major chronic depression virtualy my entire life, since about 9. It's an illusion. You're a smart man, Keanu, and you've found the first step to recoverie for yourself. Let people know, especialy your family, then talk to your doctor. Remember also that no matter what horrors you see around you that there are good people out there, and that you arent the first person this has happened too.

Depression is an insidious illusion, but an illusion nonetheless, the world has a lot of good in it left, remember that.

But for now, see your doctor about this, he or she will know what to do. Last time I had a major resurgance, and wasnt able to sleep well, I was simply briefly put on a course of suppliments, and recovered after two weeks.

Depression itself no matter how it was caused, is actualy medicaly very simple and easy to treat. It's almost always caused by chemical imbalance in the brain-in my case reduces seratonin levels, and it's very easy to rectify, so MAKE DAMN SURE YOU SEE A DOCTOR.

Z's advice is also to be listened to closely. While I was recovering from my severe-yet-simple chemical depression's last main bout, I took up target shooting. This I found hugely relaxing, but writing, composing music, shooting, dueling-virtualy anything that you can immerse yourself in helps.

I didn't read all posts and replies as I have a bit of a migraine right now, but I just want to let you know that if you ever need someone to talk to in confidence, despite what it is or how you may feel that I could plausibly have a negative outlook or bias about it, I'm always here, available to talk to, at any time... Well... Whenever the time is in which I am on to reply, but you get the drift. I've had my fair share of depression before. Both from the histories of my life and completely unexplained, sudden and overwhelming waves of it. I no longer really have bad depression anymore as I have just grown personally numb to it, but I can be a very empathetic person and completely understanding.

Be well, sleep well, fight well, live long.

As well as counciling - watch some old Marx Brothers movies. Abbot & Costello, Three Stooges are some other good ones. You won't be able to keep from laughing out loud. And real laughter is always good therapy.

I wrote up your poem. :) You can find it in the Druid's Garden. I hope it puts a smile on your face. I normally don't write poems to the parameters in which you requested, as ironic as it is, but I decided that I'd do as you pleased, and then add what I pleased, in hopes it will please you more than you could have previously thought. :)

PS: "The Wrong World Through My Eyes" is the one.
