NjaSqurl
Hello NMM forums. I'm new to modding so the Mod Manager is awesome but I've run into a few issues...or one main one anyhow. I've got a few mods loaded (I'll get the load order up in a sec) and every so ofter the game will crash to desktop and I'm told New Vegas has stopped ressponding. I go to reload and several of my last save files won't work. The game goes to a load screen and music plays for a moment and then stopps. The various loading screen tips keep rotate through but the game never loads. When i three finger salute and bring up the Task Manager it tells me that New Vegas is Not Responding and I have to "End Task". This cycle will continue till I find a save that will actually load. I've lost HOURS of gmaeplay because the save files simply will not load the game. Has anyone else had this issue or know what could be causing it? +++Load Order+++ GameMode=FalloutNVFalloutNV.esm=1TribalPack.esm=1MercenaryPack.esm=1ClassicPack.esm=1CaravanPack.esm=1DeadMoney.esm=1HonestHearts.esm=1OldWorldBlues.esm=1GunRunnersArsenal.esm=1LonesomeRoad.esm=1Lings.esm=1Goodsprings Shack.esp=1LingsPrettyThings.esp=1VyntageCass02.esp=1 Edited January 3, 2015 by NjaSqurl
gromulos
ALL of the reasons your saves are broken AND your game is crashing can be explained away in steps 1-3 of my guide below. But, just so that I am VERY clear about exactly what problems you are having I will list them also. 1) No bashed patch file - anytime you use more than 1 or 2 mods, you NEED a bashed patch file so that all mods will play nice together2) Your load order is completely out of whack - step 1 of my guide - DLC's ALWAYS get loaded before the "Pack" files3) follow my guide STEP BY STEP and it will fix 95-98 % of your game problems - the 2-5 % left over is because of Bethesda problems that can't be fixed IE: memory cap http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2247404-fallout-new-vegas-beginners-guide-to-modding/ EDIT - Once you do run Wrye Flash, take a moment to click on the save tab up top, if your saves are not purple (best ) or at least green ( second best ) then you definitely have mutiple problems Edited January 3, 2015 by gromulos
NjaSqurl
Apparently I'm not using Wrye Flash right...I downloaded it with the FMM and can't get it actually DO anything. Edit. As for the load order that's how the game ordered them. But I'll get them sorted out. Edited January 6, 2015 by NjaSqurl
NjaSqurl
Ok I ran LOOT and It gave me some errors for the Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, Lonesome Road and Gun Runners Arsenal Packs. Multiple ITM for all and some have several UDRs (no Idea what those acronyms MEAN but I'll work on that. Ran Wyre Flash (apparently the big green and obvious "Download in Manager" button is there to confuse people like me). All mods were Green checked and it created a Bashed Patch. As for the saves...Every one of them is Orange background and orange checked....does that mean they are all bad and I have to start totally over? I'm working on wading through the learning curve so I have some idea how to do this. Currently trying to figure out how to reorder things in Wyre Flash Edited January 6, 2015 by NjaSqurl
gromulos
there are only 2 reasons why your saves would be orange, you removed a mod that the save included, OR, you changed your load order an orange save can be recovered, but generally, they are deemed unsafe, this is specially true if you removed a mod if it included any scripts please remember that the bashed patch file that was created by Wrye is EMPTY, you have to follow step 2.3 ( i think ) of my guide to rebuild it and make wrye include ALL your mods. the way to recover your saved game if you choose to try is to go into game, load your save, save it again in a NEW SLOT and then quit the game to desktop, check wrye, at this point the save should be purple Edited January 6, 2015 by gromulos
NjaSqurl
The only two Mods the Wyre Flash recommended get bashed (did I say that right) were LingsPrettyThings.esp=1VyntageCass02.esp=1 So I created a Bashed Patch for them. When I look at NMM do I check those mods as well as the Bashed Patch or not. I think it told me to unselect them when I went to create the Bashed Patch. gromulos
when you rebuild your bashed patch you should be including ALL of your mods and in your load order all mods should be checked BEFORE making the bashed patch, if wrye and the bashed patch unchecks something, that's because it was merged into the bashed patch technically when you make the bashed patch your not unselecting anything, those mods listed are being merged into the bashed patch
NjaSqurl
Ok here is what I've done thus far. 1. I ran LOOT and it gave me some things it told me I need to finx with FNVEdit but I have NOT done anything other than install FNVEdit at this time. 2. I got Wyre Flash Installed and created a Bashed Patch for LingsPrettyThings.esp=1 and VyntageCass02.esp=1 (they show the "+" in the box when viewed in Wyre) 3. I tried to load my autoasve (the most "recent" save I have) and the game told me the save relied on information no longer available or some such. I proceeded to try loading. Same problem as before. The load screen came up but after a moment the music stopped playing but the Tips kept scrolling. When bring up the Task Manager it tells me New Vegas is not responding so I End Task.... I have also re ordered my load order like you said to in post number two current load order to follow: GameMode=FalloutNVFalloutNV.esm=1LonesomeRoad.esm=1OldWorldBlues.esm=1HonestHearts.esm=1DeadMoney.esm=1GunRunnersArsenal.esm=1CaravanPack.esm=1ClassicPack.esm=1MercenaryPack.esm=1TribalPack.esm=1Lings.esm=1Goodsprings Shack.esp=1LingsPrettyThings.esp=0VyntageCass02.esp=0Bashed Patch, 0.esp=
gromulos
if the most current save won't load you can try a trick I learned. 1) start a new game2) when you get to the part where Doc want's you to use the machine try loading your most current save3) if your save doesn't load after trying this, time for a completely new game4) if it does load, save and quit to desktop immeidately5) now try loading that newer save you just made Edited January 6, 2015 by gromulos
NjaSqurl
I'll give that a shot this evening. Another quick question I was going to look into those errors that LOOT gave me with FNVEdit. I know you said not to use a Bashed patch and the patch that FNVEedit creates at the same time. Will FNVEdit also fix the issue those two mods had?
