Deleted31005User
Its been like two years since I got two warnings and ever since then there has been no real issues anymore, I learned how to behave and not to argue with what moderators are saying, pretty much be respectful whereas before I was not.But I was wandering, are those warnings going to stick to my account for ever or do they fade away after a long time?Ive been helpful to other members, offering some modding advice on the forums here and there, but it would be a sad day for me if I were to get that third warning because the policy here is basically "3 strikes and your out". Lets say that I get this third warning in a few years from now, are those two previous warnings from several years ago still going to cause this to become an instant ban on my account? Also if this is really the case that formal warnings are permanent, can I leave the suggestion of maybe removing one warning every 2 years or something? At least this way people can redeem themselves again. Edited January 8, 2015 by Guest
Mattiewagg
I think it would be cool to have a feature where you can remove a formal warning after a long time of being "really good" but that might require some watching from moderators, which is hard for them. Then there's the whole issue of opinion - do you really deserve it (not you but like, the broader "you")? And then the PMing the moderators start, saying "look how good I've been remove my formal warning pls!" I personally would be interested in such a feature because I consider myself as being relatively nice to people on the forums and helping out, and I've accrued 2 formal warnings because I'm an idiot. But that's my problem, and if such a feature were to cause more trouble for the moderators then I wouldn't want it, because they deal with a lot already. You make your mistakes, and while it's not great to have something hanging over your head like that, if you've learned how to be then you shouldn't have to worry about it, theoretically. Besides, if you get banned, then you can always file for an appeal/unbanning/don't remember the name. Doesn't mean you'll get it, but the moderators here are good folks and if you show that you understand WHY and don't do it again, then you should be fine. Then again... Many don't say why, or it's a nonappealable ban (like piracy or something like that, I imagine). But ultimately - yes, that'd be a nice feature but not if it makes it any harder for moderators or Dark0ne or anybody on the staff team.
bben46
The old three strikes was thrown out a couple of years ago. But there are still references to it in the documentation - We do look at how long it has been between warnings and more recent activity before automatically banning on a third strike. TheCalliton
Look at it this way. The mods forgot about the warning I was given back when I was new. I faintly remember asking about it and noone else remembering it. Two years is a long enough time for anyone to forget anything

That language used to be in the "All newbies read this before posting" sticky in the "Forum Rules and Warnings" forum. That changed when Dark0ne introduced the more nuanced system with both Formal (public) and Informal (private) Warnings, along with an automatic record of each member's "Moderation History" which the Staff can review. Now, when you receive a Warning, "it goes on your Permanent Record, young man!"
