What HGEC + other mods do you use?

When I first played through the game I didn't finish it, so I decided to reinstall it on my new computer and give it a go.

 

To make it more interesting I decided to mod up the game first.

 

I have decided on the HGEC body switch mod and the high rez mods that accompany it (I'm pretty sure i installed it correctly). I plan to add the better cities mod and the environment mod that makes things look better. I'm also going to use the colourwheels sexy imperial mod and the associated mods also. I've seen several clothing mods that add all kinds of items etc that I think will work with HGEC that I'm going to try. (growlfs, colourwheels, the goddess one)

 

Other then that I'm not sure what else I'll do. I'm looking for some good suggestions, cool mods that others think I should get. What do you guys use? Any really good clothing mods you like? (HGEC preferably). Any cool gameplay mods to try? Any other unique things someone new to modding their game might miss? I know I've seen all kinds of poses in screenshots that I have no idea how people do.

 

I'm just trying to get a general list that other people might use that I can check out and see if I want to try it.

Edit: It just occurred to me that this might influence suggestions. All I have is the regular non game of the year edition oblivion.

I like the Underworld (Sonja's Armor) armor a lot. It works with any body mod because there's no exposed skin. I also recommend ATYPE02 (Speedbuster)'s Skiki Armor if he hasn't taken it down. I use the version that has an iron-like texture on it. Again this can be used with any body mod.

i tend to use piecemeal armor, collecting bits from all over.

 

 

Exnem has some great stuff. someone packages his Warrior armour for vendor sale. not cheap stuff, but neither should it be =P

 

the prolific Hentai has plenty of interesting stuff. in particular, the creepy runed black armour from one of his dungeon/shop mods - not creed or mania. im afraid the name escapes me.

 

i also love the big clunky plate look, so for that, Selene has some great stuff ( giant gauntlets and whatnot) and i also use content from Tona's mod shop a lot. in particular, the gauntlets with attached pauldrons.

 

finally, R18PN does some truly wonderful work, but a lot of the armour comes in only a few pieces, so its difficult to assemble in different arrangements how i like, and you get less enchanting options out of it (apropos to which, unlimited rings/amulets and Consume Enchantments is useful xD)

 

as mentioned above, the Shiki sets (i often use the exnemised boots and gloves) has some great stuff, but the body is replaced with an even skinnier one =o

 

all said, theres tons of stuff out there for HGEC. plenty of vanilla armour and clothing replacers

 

so thats armour taken care of, which is always my primary concern. as far as general appearance of the game, theres tons of great stuff also. Qarl's texture pack III is a must. Im a huge fan of Deadly Reflexes and Unnecessary Violence (at the end of the day, the game is about hacking up your enemies xD) and Mart's Monster Mod to get even more opprtunities for that aforementioned violence. Armamentarium adds a lot of variety in the items department. If you're using animation replacers (i use a medley, but mostly DMC stylish) Mayu's Animation Overhaul is a must. I also use Kobu's alternative levelling system and Modular Oblivion Enhanced.

 

dont know about your familiarity with the game, but youll probably want to use OBMM and Wrye Bash to get the whole thing working properly. A bit overwhelming at first (ok, its bloody terrifying D:) but when it works, it really works.

For my character, I always have them wearing Sinblood's Ravenous Elegance. It is for HGEC and looks lovely.

 

Also, I do not know of a mod that replaces stock clothing for HGEC, but I use the Stock Clothing and Armor for Exem's Complete mod that makes all the armor and clothing look to match the eye candy mod. Since they do not match HGEC perfectly, the arms look a slight bit poofy by the shoulders at the right angle, but the waists and busts look MUCH better. (when armor shows the midriff, you can kinda see where the texture is a smidgen off, but it's not so bad as to make you switch back to the stock textures).

 

If you do not already have them, may I suggest the DarkUi Darn mod with the Atmospheric Loading screens and Fracesco's overhaul? I find them both very appealing. :)
