Keanumoreira
Known to kill livestock, the U.S goverment has decalred that Rinderpest has been wiped out, making it the second disease (behind Smallpox) to be eradicated. Guess we'll see more follow in its fate.
ub3rman123
Interesting. I've never heard of it before. Was it a particularly difficult challenge to eradicate?
Keanumoreira
Interesting. I've never heard of it before. Was it a particularly difficult challenge to eradicate? I assume so. The last reported case was in 2001, so I guess they've worked hard to contain and kill it.

Keanumoreira
hmm the next thing they are going after will be rabies Yeah, good luck with that one for them. If they love to kill thousands of animals, then it should be a rousing success. :verymad: Wouldn't be surprised though...
Vindekarr
I wish they wouldnt do that. We need viruses and disease to boost our immune systems. Allergy and disease rates are spiraling in this generation among those who are obsessed with clean-ness. As in all things balance is needed. Do not live in filth but do not decontaminate the world either. Just like in all things, purposely seeking out diease through poor hygene is foolish. However deliberately shutting oneself off from disease is even worse. Probably the single most common thing I had to deal with during my medical training was teens, mostly girls, coming in, sick as dogs with some common illness. However they've been exposed to such few diseases previously that their bodies just cant cope. A wise man once said that if it doesnt kill you, it makes you stronger. This is completely true. And while some infections require medical attention no matter what, those who have been exposed to viruses throughout their childhood, such as myself, will find themselves stronger for it. Exposure results in the development of a hardy body and strong immune system. Hiding away results in weakness.

XanAlderon
Pretty sure there is a lab somewhere with copies of all known diseases which, although dangerous should some escape, could save us should we ever meet a disease like the ones they have in there.
