Gopher
Sat here in the dark waiting for the game to release in Europe and wondering what tools I will need. I am assuming the .nif files are identical so meshes and textures are not my worry. What I most want to know is how different the .esp files are and whether or not the three tools I mentioned are compatible.
Gopher
Actually I guess FOSE will not work on thinking about it more.
Argomirr
There's already an experimental version of FNVEdit up on NVNexus and I'm sure FOMM (or NVMM?) will follow soon. FOSE will take much, much longer though, I'd think. And I'll be releasing a load order manager with NV/FO3/OB support somewhere in the near future too. :P I should stop talking about this too much, this is liekt he third time I mention it today. Valasthor
Have not tested FO:NV so far but FOSE and FOMM does not seem to be a problem... Here is a quote from a popular forum: Serious mods for FO3 required access to the .exe proper, something Steam prevents. It's the reason FOSE-based mods don't work on the Steam version of the game unless you crack the .exe first. But if I am well informed the Russian version had this problems before and there was an extra fose.exe. Maybe this .exe is a good solution for Fose: New vegas too... Compatibility: FOSE supports these versions of Fallout 3 (from either a retail DVD or Steam):- 1.0.0.15- 1.1.0.35- 1.4.0.6 (original release)- 1.4.0.6 (alternate release, found on steam and some European patches)- 1.5.0.22- 1.6.0.3- 1.7.0.3 The latest FOSE supports the russian version. This version is protected by StarForce. FOSE v1.2 beta2 provides support for:Retail DVD and Steam builds 1.0.0.15, 1.1.0.35, both versions of 1.4.0.6, 1.5.0.22, 1.6.0.3 and 1.7.0.3. The no-gore version of 1.7.0.3 released in Germany is also supported. So I believe it is possible to create a fose version which works fine with F:NV... EnterSevenSeven
I could really use FOSE right now, especially when using the setessential console command.

Not that there should be any problem with New Vegas, since there's no difference between retail, Steam or Direct2drive versions.

Gopher
Hmm I cant even get the GECK working. Downloaded the NV edition and unpacked it into the NV game directory (why on earth does it not have an installer like the FO3 geck?). Tells me the libvorbisfile dll file is not valid or corrupt etc. The file is there in the game directory. Wondering if it wont work until the game is released. Or perhaps the dll files that installed on pre-download are corrupt?

If so, then you won't be able to use the GECK until it is. The files you have are either encrypted or not completely there. Steam does this to stop people from playing early. Once it goes live, you'll download the rest of the game and the files will become unencrypted which will allow the GECK to run at that point. If the above isn't the case. The only thing I can think of it you have it in the incorrect place.

I did not realise they would stop me using GECK getting my MOD up and running before the release though, but that makes sense I guess. Was hoping to get that out of the way so I could focus on playing the minute it unlocked rather than waste time modding. No rest for the wicked I guess :)
