Charon
Probably a newbie question, but I am clueless. When levelling, my combat oriented character with Strength 95, I got multiplier 4 as it should be, but after increasing couple of times non-major skills, instead of 5 multiplier was reset to 1. Same happened with Agility, I had to get 99 and only on the next level 100.Strange is the fact that the same doesn't apply for all stats. Personality, Endurance and Speed got 100 without this annoying "bug?". Does someone know the reason why it happens?
Pob
Same happoened to me but with Intelligance. No idea why this bug happens. Must just be a bug (intially I thouight maybe I had miscalculated my multiplers, but I did double check)
thanateros
I think (your post wasn't very clear) what you're talking about has to do with the fact that when you level the multiplier is based on the paired attribute with the skills you leveled up (mostly). So secondary skills based in say Agility will give you an Agility multiplier. ...Also, sometime I think you might get a random multiplier of 2 or higher on non skill associated attributes, in which case I just blame it on luck. Griffon
Your not alone. I experienced the same thing with strength. I was very careful how I leveled my character. I always saved a game just before leveling. I even went back to my last "level" save game and power leveled the skills that modified that attribute to see what was up. Same results. Not sure what the deal was, but it was not the same for Endurance and Speed for me either. Very wierd <_< Does not seem to be any real reason for it. I would be interested in an answer as well - if anyone has one.
The Corinthian
I read somewhere once i believe that the way it works is if you have say 97 in strength and you level up axe 8 times which would normally give you a 4x attribute on strength it gets reset back to 1x becuase 4x would put the stat over 100. So, I think the way it works is you have to get a multiplier that would make the total less than or equal to 100. so for 97 strength the best you could do would be to level up a strength skill 6-7 times and get the 3x multiplier but as soon as 8 skills governed by strength level up it will reset back to a 1x multiplier, because 8 skills would give a 4x multiplier putting strength at 101. annoying but i believe thats how it works. hope you didn't find my explanation too confusing. Charon
Thanks for the explanation. The only correction - bloody mulitplier resets even if it would make the total equal to 100, not only if it would make it >100.So I had to jump from 95 to 99 and get 100 only on the next levelling
Deleted31005User
What I dont understand is this:I had my intelligence at 95, I brought it up to 99 (as supposed to, otherwised the multiplier gets reset), then I brought it up to 100. People are saying you can go above 100 by using an item wich gives a constant effect to increase intelligence. So now my intelligence is 100 (max) + 10 for using a mentors ring. But then I tried to level once more, and I cant even ad 1x multiplier to intelligence, seems to be that my intelligence is stuck on 100. So using enchanted items sure doesnt work for me, so any advice on this?
Malchik
Actually there are more recent threads on this topic than reviving one six months old. You cannot raise the stats above 100. But if you have fortify items you may continue to train in any skill that is at 100 (without a fortify item you cannot). For anything other than a major or minor skill this has no purpose whatsoever, you are just wasting money as the skill stays at 100. However for major and minor skills when you have trained ten times your character is granted an increase in level. Without doing this you can expect to max out at around level 78. Using it there is no limit to your level and each new level adds to your health. The procedure people describe is for gaining in levels (Saldrex is at level 500) not for increasing your stats. You have been misled.
Deleted31005User
ooooh, now it al makes sence, thanks m8. Im just lucky I picked a major/minor skill for every attribute :D Well, you see, I want this char to be a mage only, having almost no health at all, but massive magicka I am trying to cast shields to defend me and minions to attack. So now that my intelligence is at 110 I dont want to stop training it, couse I will need alot more magicka if I intend to defeat Dagoth Ur this way. EDIT: I have intelligence on 110. (with mentor ring)Eventhough I can still train some skills who have intelligence as attribute (conjuration/enchant), after I level up I can not add points to intelligence no more.so basecly, my magicka is doomed to stay this low? I see people stating they have 1000+ HP points??? (so I cant have 1000+ magicka?) If you reach 100 on an attribute, you can still use skills to gain a level, but you cant add those multipliers you get to the attribute which is already on 100.So eventually you will have all attributes on 100 and you cant level no more. :help:
Malchik
You cannot increase willpower beyond 100 by training but if you start with certain races and birthsigns your magika is higher to begin with. Then you can enchant items to fortify attributes constantly and drink fortifying potions. With permanent fortify willpower enchantments on exquisite shirt, pants, belt, shoes, two gloves and robe, two rings and an amulet, daedric tower shield and some kinds of armour and weapons you ought to be able to raise it much higher. However I never play as a mage and am probably not the best to advise you here. The question of all attributes being 100 is irrelevant. If you have a fortifying item in the attribute behind a major or minor skill you will level up after every ten trainings with the appropriate master trainer. I repeat, there is no limit to this process. Of course I am referring here to the PC version. I know nothing about Xbox.
