Hardcore

Is it really that hard to figure out that FOD = Food, H2O = Water, and SLP = Sleep? Since when has game manuals ever been needed anyway? I never read those because I find every game easy enough to figure out right from the get go

I think a more important question regarding stealth would be: if you score a critical-hit kill by firing your very loud gun from the shadows, do your victim's friends still just stand around like nothing happened?

I've been in two situations where this is not the case. One, I was up in a building and I sneak-one shot killed a guy. His friend not too far away quickly started to make his way to me

In another situation I killed someone in sneak, and 2 others from the room beside him came after me . Both situations I was using the 9mm (love that gun btw). Every gun does have a sound stats for detection. So I don't know if they were reacting to the gun sound, or if they were reacting to the dead body that just dropped in their view

The game is great. A few bugs to sguash but we are looking at a great game to mod here- better than Of

Im playing hardcore on hard. Its awesome. Realistic and challanging just enough. Died 3x so far to falling and ambushes.

Doc bags are your friend. Also admantium- I gotta get this perk somehow...,fit...it,in.

Playing sneaky ninja unarmed with sniper. Only a few weapons I could realistically carry. Hope u/a is viable like fallout 3 not fallout 2

Good to hear that they seem to have fixed the AI when it comes to sneak kills at last. Two more questions though:

Can you still carry a mountain of stuff in your pockets? Like a couple of rifles, three pistols, a flamer and a minigun plus the assorted trash?

And regarding weapon damage, how does it work with Hardcore? I heard it doesn't get changed. Do you need to empty a full clip into a raider to bring 'em down? Or is it more like a two-three shots max affair?

Actually, I tend to play with special "house rules" which kinda prohibit stuffing a whole armory in the pockets of my suit. Makes the game much more fun - in my opinion. Ah well, something to mod then. That's the best thing about games like this - if you don't like something, change it. :)

Hardcore mode sounds like a nice step in the right direction for the players who enjoy the extra challenge though. Overall, I'm liking what I hear about it.

I disabled hardcore. I liked that my companions could die, and that healing was more difficult, but found that eating, sleeping, and drinking ended up just being tedious as opposed to challenging.

Maybe its because I can only play a few hours a week that I just feel that it becomes a drag...

Hardcore isn't as hardcore as it's made out to be. It's a challenge in the beginning, but you eventually find out that just like FO3, food and water are extremely abundant. Every town has rad-free water fountains, a lot of ruins have irradiated water that you only need to drink once or twice in your entire run, and you dont need nearly as much food/sleep to avoid sickness as you do with water. It almost becomes a routine: Spend 12 hours in-game time doing some quest/exploring some location, go back to safe house to deposit loot, drink water/eat food/sleep, save. Really, all that hardcore has done, for me at least is given food/water a use over being stockpiled in my fridge. The companion death/bullet weight is a much more obvious burden.
