Misterboy
Hi Everyone. I'm hoping for some help, and I really hope you don't think I'm being lazy. I played Fallout 3 when it came out and got so buried in mods that I never actually played much of the game. I tend to have this trouble with Bethesda titles... (hides in shame). Anyway, I picked up the GOTY edition of Fallout 3 and would like to play it, but I really am looking for some help from those of you who have been following the mod scene carefully over the years. What I would like is for you to suggest to me the ESSENTIAL list of Fallout 3 mods that absolutely must be installed. I know about the DarnUI, and I think Fellout might be on this list. I'm also interested in the huge Texture Replacement Mod. EVE looks very interesting too. So I'm not a total noob, and I have done a lot of research. I just don't want to spend another 2 days reading through NEXUS and PlanetFallout to see what I'm missing. And there is a LOT out there. So please, oh gurus of Fallout 3... please give me a relatively short list of the mods that any self respecting Fallout 3 GOTY edition player should install, assuming he has a powerful PC with a graphics card that can handle everything. Bells and Whistle type mods are interesting but I don't want to spend more time installing/tweaking than playing the game. I am also not inclined towards massive gameplay overhauls (yet)... so Fallout Wanderer's Edition won't be going on for now. I know that 2 minutes of your time will save me a many hours of research. And yes, I do know about the Top 25/100 lists on the Nexus. I've been reading through them. Thanks again!

Misterboy
Here's a short list. And here's a long list.Your mileage may vary, but those are places to start. Especially the patches and fixes section of the aforementioned longer list. I only just saw your post. Thanks very much for the reply. The second link is great and I wasn't able to find that on my own. In the mean time, I had settled on some mods. I basically went with FOOK2 because it added a lot of variety as well as some of the mods I was looking at anyway. I also added the various radio mods, and I installed the wonderful Texture replacer. Then I added the alternate RP start, as well as Arwen's experience slow down mod. Also one of XFO's timescale mods and gore reducer. So basically I let FOOK2 add all the stuff it adds, and then I just prettied the game up. And finally added some tweaks to slow the leveling down as well as slow down the timescale and all the excessive body explosions. I'm pretty darn happy! (Oh, added Darnified UI of course!!) Thanks again for the input!
apaosha
You should consider Artorp's Zooming Scoped Weapon, Sprint Mod, RH_Ironsights, etc. MMM also makes it much more fun overall, with new creatures like the Matriarch or Gargantuan. Just do a search on the Nexus for them.
olafreinhardweyer
Never shy to do some self-advertising: Check out my ongoing Fallout3 Music Conversion. Each (Update) Package adds new content onlymeaning you need each Package to get EVERY track. Go at least for the Mainpackage and first Update Package. The Point Lookout Editions are meant for standalone usage (as will be later installments, e.g. for Motherhship Zeta): Ah, and don't just get the Rileys Rangers Special first, just only because it's the smallest, you would get a wrong impression ofthe overall musical design (which in Riley's is to lift your spirits instead of adding to danger and exploration)! On The Edge Of Your Nerves: http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9814 Enjoy :) Edited December 14, 2010 by olafreinhardweyer
