Wherever you installed Steam\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Fallout New Vegas\Data

Hi

I am the same as you - we were told that we would be able to access game files for mods, and that we would be able to play fallout nv without having to be online or loged on to steam account - I can not play fallout nv without doing both!!!

What is steam upto?

With Steam open Click on "Steam" at the top then "Go Offline".

Thank you - but we were told on the f & q that we would not need to keep having to go through the steam program to access the game - this is no more than steam through the back door and was the major fear of many fans of fallout 3

From the mess they made with the cloud settings I have to wonder if the developers actually knew anything about Steam at all.

Agreed

I have been playing FNV for a couple of hours and the game has crashed twice - I am using the same computer that I play fallout 3 on with no problems.

Also I can not play FNV without having connection to steam first - this was not the answer given in the f & qs - I feel that steam will kill the game for many. I am enjoying the game but the steam issue is making rethink FNV

Back to Fallout 3 for many I fear.

Honestly, it's been a good three years now. Fallout New Vegas is using the same DRM used in The Orange Box, Left 4 Dead, Empire Total War, Civilization V etc etc. Everyone really should know what "Steamworks" means now, especially developers.

And frankly, you can just put a shortcut on the desktop (right click > Create Shotcut on Desktop) that fires up Steam and then Fallout New Vegas (or whatever game you used the shortcut), which is the closest we're going to get legally for now. (There's rumours that NVMM might get round Steamworks, but I doubt it.)

And when all's said and done, at least it's not UbiDRM.

I wonder how many people preferred GfWL over Steam?

It's the other way around for me, I'd get crashes and glitches with FO3 but so far NV is running great.
