Any penalty in taking the 'Wild Wasteland' trait?

I took this one too. O well. I am seriously controlling my urge to min/max the stats in this first time around in the game. I am playing it on Hard/Hardcore, and i was expecting it to be difficult, but its not at all. Might crank it to Very Hard.

WHY? D:

I already restarted my character after about 16h play for just that reason x3.

Doit. Then go chill by the blind deathclaw nest north of Camp Golf <3.

Okay I took this Trait too and within 2 hours of gameplay I ran across 2 scenes I think are related to this perk.

Spoiler ahead:

First was some traveler walking around Goodsprings at midnight asked to help his girlfriend at a ridge by a broken radio tower, I said sure and had a rather rough go with a small swarm of geckos. Killed them and proceeded up this 'ridge'. I found 3 bear traps a fridge and a table and bed. Top corner hud has a crazee pipboy look with slight wacky music and I thought it for sure had to do with this perk. I raided the gear, no karma penalty, and proceeded back to this dude when I see HIM running to ME. He calls me out on killing the geckos for him so HE can raid that gear and we gunfight, I win, just barely.

Second I find an open fridge on the floor as I'm heading back to Goodsprings and when I get to the fridge again wacky pipboy top left corner hud and wacky music. Inside the fridge is a corpse and a Suave gambler's hat which gives +1 Perception.

If this is related then this Trait is well worth it!!!

Heh that second one is a tribute to the newest Indiana Jones movie, where he escapes a nuclear blast by hiding in a fridge.

Yeah, I don't think there's an advantage or disadvantage, it's just if you want there to be humorous references in the game or not. I think it's a compromise between a lot of the developers from the first two Fallout games, which had a lot of humor, and the more serious tone of Fallout 3.

I saw that fridge. I was wondering what the weird pipboy symbol meant. Don't remember the music though.
