If you can be patient for a few days, ttomwv and I will be releasing a Fallout: New Vegas version of the RR Companion Vault system from Fallout 3. We are already building several companions ourselves, and at least one other person is probably going to have a new companion ready soon as well.

Sounds good. But i'd like to do my own little thing and just wanted to kinda find out how to do mods by myself, Can anyone help me here? A tutorial or something?

I would be interested in this as well, perhaps even turning an NPC whose already in the game into a companion sounds interesting as well.

Easy short-cut method:

1 - Find Veronica or Boone or one of the other companions in the GECK,

2 - Open them up

3 - Edit as desired

4 - Play game and get that companion with your new look, items and what-not.

4.5 - Make your char suit the voice and it's pretty neat.

I used enhanced children and changed Veronica into a kid. It's hilarious watching a little girl trounce a group of raiders with a powerfist.

Otherwise there's this. But it's old and I doubt it'll work in NV. Not the way you want, anyway.
