when you slash with sword it shows in armor

Hi James again. I had an idea that might be cool. I was wondering if it is possible if someone could make it so when you slash your weapon at an enemy that you actually see the slice on the person. Maybe when they have armor on it will show scrapes and when you keep hitting the slices will turn bloody, like its actuaally penetrating through the armor. I dont think there is actually anything like this out there. Maybe because its not possible. Or is it? Thankyou for your time. heres an example, of some sort that i found, if my gibberish is hard to understand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGnLFrEBJoo&feature=player_embedded#at=16

This wouldn't really be possible I think. One way to do it might be to have a script so when armour reaches a certain damaged rating, the armour is swapped with another model/texture where it's damaged. This would be a messy way of doing things, if it is possible. The thing about it is, it wouldn't be worth the trouble it would take.

Slawter, do you think the BLoody Mess scripting could be altered? Replace blood splatters with dent-looking shaders and such. Problem there would be that the blood in Bloody Mess shows up when you kill something, not something hitting you.

Maybe. If a scripter was advanced enough to understand that script, he might be able to modify it. Change the result to the dent effect, and the conditions to the amours damage rating, or if possible, the weapon hitting the armour. I'm pretty sure this is out of my skill in scripting though.

It is possible, in dark messiah you actually see dents, along with better blood decals and such, it has to do with the texture properties, parts of the model textured as flesh (arms, body...) have a neat slash stab gore decal and parts of the model textured as metal have dents, slashes and scratches.
