SilverXtreme
So today I finally purchased Oblivion from steam. I tested it, just to make sure it works knowing that I was going to mod it. The game worked fine, and I started downloading mods. After I downloaded some mods, I tested the game again to see if it still worked. The game was fine, apart from some graphics settings I wanted to change. I downloaded a few more mods, and tested the game again. This time, it didn't work. It crashed as soon as I clicked "Play" from the launcher. I checked it with LOOTI cleaned it with TES4EditI verified integrity of cacheI tried DISABLING ALL MODS LOAD ORDER -Oblivion.esm-DLCShiveringIsles.esp-Knights.esp-Oblivion_Character_Overhaul.esp-No psychic guards harder v1.2.esp-No psychic guards v1.2.esp-Natural_Weather_HDR_2.1.3_coloroverride.esp.esp-Natural_Weather_HDR_by_Max_Tae_CO_RD.esp-Oblivion Citadel Door Fix.esp-Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp-UOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.esp-UOPS Additional Changes.esp-Cosmetic Compilation - No JPeepers or NPC Changes.esp-Cosmetic Compilation - No JPeepers.esp-Cosmetic Compilation - No NPC Changes.esp-Cosmetic Compilation.esp-OBGE - Liquid Water.esp-LoadingScreens.espLoad Order-xulAncientRedwoods.esp-xulAncientYews.esp-xulArriusCreek.esp-xulAspenWood.esp-xulBeachesOfCyrodiilLostCoast.esp-xulBlackwoodForest.esp-xulBravilBarrowfields.esp-xulBrenaRiverRavine.esp-xulCheydinhalFalls.esp-xulChorrolHinterland.esp-xulCliffsOfAnvil.esp-xulCloudtopMountains.esp-xulColovianHighlands_EV.esp-xuldarkforest.esp-xulEntiusGorge.esp-xulFallenleafEverglade.esp-xulImperialIsle.esp-xulJerallGlacier.esp-xulLushWoodlands.esp-xulPantherRiver.esp-xulPatch_AY_AC.esp-xulRiverEthe.esp-xulRollingHills_EV_withoutWheat.esp-xulSilverfishRiverValley.esp-xulSkingradOutskirts.esp-xulSnowdale.esp-xulStendarrValley.esp-xulTheEasternPeaks.esp-xulTheHeath.esp I also use OBMM for DarNified UI If I'm missing anything, just ask! (Sorry ahead of time)Please Help! Edit:Realized the problem is "DarNified UI". But I still need help to fix it. Thanks!-I've re-installed it several times, still doesn't work.-I re-installed using the non-OMOD version, and that fixed the CTD's but now the UI doesn't work. LFact
Advice: If a mod has extra plugin for different features/options, do not load them all at once. Usually the last one will win(override records and settings), but sometimes confliction occurs, none will work, and game crashes.
Striker879
As you are learning, if you take a working game, install one single mod and find it doesn't work any longer it's a fairly simple matter to figure out where to start troubleshooting. Invariably, the install a bunch and hope method is fraught with time consuming problems to try and figure out. The only time to install more than one mod at a time is when the mod description and install instructions specify that another mod is required first, and even then I'd advise installing that required mod and then test before moving on to the one that required it (the exception to that rule is when only the ESM from the required mod is required). Don't use DarN but I'm pretty sure your situation has been addressed a number of times in it's mod comments.
forli
A crash at startup is usually a missing master or a missing/bad xml file.
Morokura
"It crashed as soon as I clicked "Play" from the launcher" Do you have OBSE installed? It's required by some of your mods and you need to launch the game via "obse_loader.exe" not launcher. Edited February 1, 2015 by Morokura
forli
If you install mods which require OBSE, you can still play Oblivion without OBSE.Simply, those mods won't work: when Oblivion doesn't recognize a command, the game won't crash, but the script will be stopped. The game may even crash as indirect consequence of the stopped script, but not before the title screen, because scripts don't run at all before it. If the game crashes before the title screen, then a missing OBSE is not the cause. Maybe a bad OBSE installation, but a crash on startup (before the first loading screen) always means a problem with the mods, the DirectX, a bad Oblivion installation or a bad "Oblivion.ini" (the one in Documents/My Games/Oblivion).
