Skyrim Sluggish - Is my Rig not good enough?

Hello All,

This is my first post here I believe. In anycase I have become a bit obsessed with Skyrim again and obviously I had to mod the hell out of it so I could get (at least what hope and perceive) the best HD Highest Graphics. Of course there are other mods as well.

The Problem I am having is I believe I have a pretty decent Rig to support this game on full with all my mods - however my loading of cells tends to be a bit ridiculous and casual scenes lag as much as intense scenes.

I am a bit of a novice to modding Skyrim - I am a bit of a "download the shiny" however I do like to take the challenge of making everything work together. I have attached my Mod information from Mod Organizer and a few screenshots of my system to give you all information on my environment. If you would like any more information please let me know.

I have my Skyrim and Mod Organizer with mods installed on my OS Drive 256MB SSD - Now I could move this to another SSD off my OS if you believe this would actually increase performance beyond a few IOPS.

Eventually I would love to contribute my own mods - however I should probably "beat' this game at least once.

Thank you all for your time and advice. I really appreciate it.

I set my settings to this below and has help tremendously. I also gave up playing the game in 4k - just wasn't worth it I suppose. I was getting a lot of CTDs when I was at 1080 and 4k however I think the uGrid was the culprit.

[General]
uExterior Cell Buffer=100
uGridsToLoad=9
iPreloadSizeLimit=84934656
Thank you again.
I still would like any other suggestions on how to get the max skrim with my Rig if anyone else has a similar build.

1. Your rig is SICK TO THE CORE. I'm a vegetarian and I'd chop off my leg and eat it for that beast.

2. Your load order is a MESS. Please read up on how to use

and
.

3. There's three "-Requiem" patches in your load order. Unless you're using Requiem you don't need them.

4. You seem to be running Skyrim Redone alongside Perkus Maximus. This is largely unnecessary since the latter has replaced the former.

@notmyhome
Thank for the compliment and honesty... your leg will be more useful than my rig in 5 years.

I have used LOOT just not very well. I used TESV edit only to merge esp.

I can remove the requiem mods. I never could get that to work I guess I missed a few items.

Reason kept Sky redone is because other mods depended on the master. If Perkus Maximus can substitute cleanly for the other mods then I'll remove SkyRedone. .. then again I guess I can find alternatives.

@AlienSensei
I will try that out... saw some vids on it... looks fantastic. I liked preset 4 the best so far.

here's the problem. you're hitting the 3.5gb limit of your card. it's not skyrim, it would happen in any game. so your best option would be to lower your expectations regarding the game. play only with the mods that will allow a constant (at least 60) framerate. it's not worth it to have a very pretty slideshow, and for what? a few extra pixels?.the other option will run you another $500 or so: a gtx 980

on 4k: look, you have the screen, fine, but what the retail won' tell you is that in order to play a modern game in that resolution, you need at least 2x 970 in SLI (i'd chose a 980 myself)

soo...is your rig not good enough? idk

@Vile touch

Reaching the 3.5GB limit does make a lot of sense. I do have2x 970 in SLI but it would still hit that limit either way. :) I was just using the 4k nvidia scaling as opposed to paying half a grand for a decent 4k monitor. I am happy with 1080 and so far so good. I have not tried the FXAA Injector yet.

Thank you for reminding me about the 3.5GB Limit.

basically what everyone else has said, do you use enb ? if so remove it, and just use imaginator and dynavision. ps. you won't see much difference running dual gpu with skyrim, remember its a cpu bound game.

I suffer with poor performance, my rig

msi r9 290 4gb

fx 8350 4.7 (water)

16gb Kingston hyper x

30" monitor 2560 x 1600

I use a minimum amount of scripted mods, but I have noticed a massive performance difference between 2k and 4k textures even with enboost, this is due to the large resolution I game in.

Hope that gives you some insight.
