An Immersive "Freeplay after Main Quest"

I'm currently using a basic mod for freeplay after the MQ. After finishing with the NCR I returned to the hoover dam to find it was still in flames and covered in Legionaries. :( which sucks. It just seems that the modders have removed one or two lines of code, which is good, but there is room for someone to do something more.

Could someone make a mod which changes the world after the main quest depending on the ending you chose? This would be a big mod and a huge task but could easily get into the top ten if done well.

Suppose if Bethesda or Obsidian decided to keep it open ended they would stick some world changes in at the end.

I'm just looking for someone to tidy up the end really well and help make it the game it should have been :D

The game "should" have ended with your having rushed the dam with your robot army in tow and having decimated both sides of that little war before turning your weapons on the robots, thus having scourged the three dominant malevolent forces from the mojave (house, legion, ncr) before walking off into the sunset of a free new vegas.

Please don't forget the nuke on the horizon...thus ensuring that every last beetle you forgot to step on is now erased, leaving you the ultimate master...

Also, I'm willing to bet that Bethesda will release a "continued after the original ending" continuation like they did in fallout 3's DLC packs. It's only a matter of time, and it certainly had enough support in FO3 for them to add it. Patience combined with nagging a company to death is rewarding.

Umm, this is exactly what I will be doing? I have done everything yet, which means I still have to reset the Hoover Dam back to it's pre-battle state, but yea... pretty much what I've already started.

One reason I'm doing this is because quite a few people I knew never bought Broken Steel for FO3. Even if Obsidian releases a DLC that acts like Broken Steel.. this will be a free alternative.

So yes, all it does so far is "change a couple lines of code" but give me a week or two and it will do much, much more. That much I promise.

Edit: Well, that and it's going to be fun as all get-out to make.

I've heard one interview with obsidian already where they said an after main quest DLC was likely, the reason they stated for not having it in the original game was that to do it and the player justice they would have needed three or four months longer development time, which i guess is fair enough considering all the possible endings.

Not to mention the fact that the game was buggy as hell even without extra content. :) They needed 3 or four months just to make the game bug free, and then another year to add the extra lol
