whats going on with mods?

There seems to be lots of topics with "my game is screwed" feel to it, and it sounds like a problem coming from malicious mods.

This is what i go by when downloading mods. its not 100% safe but its kept me problem free)

1st rule of thumb with mods:

1. Author (must have)

This is a no brainer really.

2. Description (must have)

common sense dictates if you provide a product you explain what it is.

3. Pictures (must have when valid, most mods should come with pics).

even if a mod claims to have a new mesh/texture they must have a pic, if you don't put a pic. then it tells me you are ashamed of it (which means it sucks; therefore, i don't want it) or you are hiding something.

and theres no excuse because the forum provides instructions how to take pics.

4. How new is this author? (only with all the above will i download a new kid on the block's mod, otherwise forget it).

Of course, if someone wanted to they could go throught the lengthly process of fabricating all the above, that is why personally; the PICTURE must be clear on what it shows, a mod with a descripition of new armour or weapon with a bad pic also sends a red flag.

"...sounds like a problem coming from malicious mods..." is a little different then saying "...is a problem..."

if i did say "Is" then you would be 100% correct with your interpretation of my statement, but to clarify, it is not the cause of every conceivable problem people are having with oblivion; however, it can cause big problems if people download it.

Marxist stop trolling. Sleaaels is trying to be helpful.

I think you'll find that there is an increased number of mod problem posts due to the new posting features on the file information page itself that lets users submit and view comments on the files without having to come onto these forums. Ease of use = more use.

That would be my assumption anyway.
