QUESTIONABLE CULTURAL HISTORIES OF THE FREEALLIANCE

COMIC HEROES AND HEROINES OF THE FREEALLIANCE, WAR AGAINST THE MARTIANS AND ENCLAVEN

FOR THE CHILDREN

GI-Jo and his followers who fought a variety of villains and the main enemies with special abilities and, later on, special forms of power armour and new weapons.

Captain Freedom and his followers who always used exotic power armour as powered by 'patriotic magic'. Included robotic dogs, eagles and dolphins.

Lady Jane, the adventurous young noble lady who ended up fighting in the junges in rather skimpy outfits or in torn uniforms. Had at any time three to five female companions with very similar traits and three happy go lucky male companions being a ginger haired mechanic, a wizkid with glasses and a large, powerful dog.

International Corps of Courage, the ICC, a band of soldiers who were brave, well trained and experienced but who fought against the enemy with unconventional tactics and weapons. Known for some odd members such as some friendly aliens, some robots dug up from an ancient temple and a wise old Yeti.

FOR THE WOMEN

Dorothy Does, a woman who constantly deals with problems of shortages by clever means to assist her family, her neighbours and her community. A good role model.

Sharon Shouldnot, a woman who constantly gets into trouble by being selfish, by gossiping, by lingering with soldier men and much else. A bad role model.

FOR THE MEN

Jaguar Jane, an adult version of Lady Jane, who has at least five young women with her at any time fighting the enemy. Tend to loose clothing, to be seen swimming nakedly in exotic locations and showering in barracks etc. Ripped shirts a favourite.

THERE WERE OTHER COMIC CHARACTERS BUT MOST WERE PRIVATELY PRODUCED. THE ABOVE WERE GOVERNMENT GENERATED.

UTOPIATOPIA

Leslie returned to Utopiatopia alone this time and more directly so as she became more tuned to the GTC, which was the very same Great Transdimensional Cube now appearing just outside of Lamplight Town in Eddie's Alternate Earth.

As Leslie walked along country laneway after country laneway and noted the people farming the many simple farms, she came to realise that there was something odd about these humans. They lived in very basic patterns and seemed to have trouble in accepting anything outside of their narrow ranges of existence. Those that came close to Leslie simply acted as if she did not exist and to them she did not exist.

When she came upon the first great abandoned timespaceship, she only confirmed what she had strongly suspected. These people were not the FreeAlliance people who had vanished from Johnnie's Alternate Earth in its past. They were a particular direction, or evolutionary form of Unity, that had gone bad. In this case Unity had closed in on itself after killing all nonUnity humans on its Alternate Earth and then had gone into a form of mass unified mental illness out of guilt. These mad Unity had tried to flee from themselves, from their own madness, and had ended up in the GTC somehow.

Apart from the farms, there were anumber of what she would call TowerVaults, that is vaults built above ground in full view as great hulking metallic shapes, that were braced by great graceful metallic cradle structures, each with its own very clever suspension system. The timespaceships themselves were internally designed like vaults but in a very clever manner taking account of space conditions such as acceleration.

Suddenly he was there, walking beside her, a male version of the beautiful arch-angelic Tammie. Tommie openly had white wings of energy and they were folded up against his back. He smiled warmly at her. "Glad to see you, Leslie. Now you can assist to bring the Light to these people. They have suffered more than enough for their great and terrible crime. They murdered over a billion people in order to cleanse and make Unity stronger but achieved the very opposite effect by doing so. Time to bring the billion back and the reunite the two."

SuperWoman, an expression of the sick UnityMentality of these people, came to stand with them and did nothing but wait patiently.

Then SuperWoman, Leslie and Tommie held hands, looking inwards as a triangle, and focused. At first the sick UnityMentality, it was too sick to focus into a true UnityMind, was frightened but the fear slipped away under the influence of both Leslie and Tommie. But then a great wave of Light exploded across the vast chamber and seemed to go faster than light. Then the great land was filled with people and much was going on. There was much anger but no aggression, much sadness, much agitation, much of a great range of emotions being experienced. Not just the billion plus victims had returned to life but many Unityfolk who had died since the great massacre.

The process was just begun and Leslie had done her part in it. SuperWoman faded away. Tommie smiled at Leslie and spoke. "So I will be with you for a while, assisting you."

Leslie looked at the beautifully handsome Tommie and sort of smiled. "Okay, well let's go then back to Cubetown."

Tommie nodded. "The Unity here listened to the dark voices, the very same one that has caused so many disasters on so many worlds, that Johnnie has dealt with, that Eddie has dealt with, that Joannie has dealt with. Tammie is with Johnnie, as you most likely know through your link to Johnnie. The source of that dark voice is trapped here in the Great Transdimensional Cube but it has gained freedom from its actual InnerCube Prison. It is constantly being hunted by the GTC-Guardians and other powerful entities but so far it has managed to elude them though capture has come close at times. The dark one is Mahargaedra."

Leslie gave him an odd look. "Impossible! Mahargaedra is us quins, is the name of the super virtual reality gaming team that we created and which helped us gain wealth, power and influence on one of the Alternate Earths that we were born on and grew up on. Johnnie's world, perhaps."

Tommie shook his head a little. "No, not on that world but on an Alternate Earth where neither the Martian Invasion or Doomsday took place, a world where super virtual reality came to dominate the world in a very clever but also damaging manner. So Cubetown it is, then, but I suggest that we return later and I lead you to the great Prison InnerCube that held Mahargaedra."

She sighed. "I sense you would rather we go now. Come on then."

Tommie only nodded.

WHERE MAHARGAEDRA WAS IMPRISONED

It was a great sprawling expanse of advanced civilized structures and big machines such as Boeing 747 Jumbojets parked on a great wide tarmac next to the Statue of Liberty and a big fission power station complete with its dome. A great hedge maze stretched out next to a row of massive skyscrapers, two of them being the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre, and a spaceshuttle was ever ready for launching on a great big 'mobile' launching platform. A huge carpark was largely filled with vehicles of types of many decades but mostly of more modern kinds; though most were cars, many were such as trucks, buses, vans and even such as fire-engines and battletanks. Amusement theme park castles and other structures rose next to great big apartment tower-complexes that were across a wide river from the Great Pyramid. But this was only part of it all.

And there was not one living human to be seen though their were androids, animals, plants and plenty of robots.

While many of the androids were AI-independent, most were controlled through super virtual reality network-systems by humans in exo-interactive capsules or EICs. A minority of humans SVR-controlled robots or robotic birds or other forms of extensions including amazing racing machines of varied kinds from jetcars to jetplanes and jetboats.

But the people were not happy. They were Unity as trapped in their own super virtuality network-systems. They had genetically engineered themselves so that most could now only survive inside the EICs. Only a moderate minority could leave the EICs and often did so but they suffered from various mental illness conditions about staying too long away from the SVR and about being outside of the false comfort of EICs. Only a small minority were comfortable outside of SVR and the capsules. A tiny minority hated SVR and the EICs.

A vast billboard was flashing the word MAHARGAEDRA in the language known as Esperanto. It was in front of a huge mishmash building of many amazing structures that somehow managed to look both beautiful and graceful instead of contradictory and ugly. It was a perfect copy of the very complex where the quins on another Alternate Earth had given humanity a wonderful gift that, abused, turned out to be a terrible curse. The five had grown amazingly wealthy, influential and powerful but came to deeply regret what had happened. Then they were turned into scapegoats as a deformed Unity arose and blamed them for what had happened.

But how had a world of people ended up inside the GTC and how had Mahargaedra ceased to be a powerful commercial tradmark and become something far more dangerous? Tommie did not know and certainly Leslie did not. They set out to find some sort of local transport to get around more easily.

THE GREAT MAZE CAVE OF PROMISES, PUZZLES AND PRIZES

Leslielee led a big group of Unity and other settlers into the huge cave with its exotic lay out of jutting walls, great basins full of water or just air, alcoves and much else. Some of the pools were boiling as steam arose from them and others were so cold as to be topped with a layer of ice but most were of more moderate temperature. Small clouds of softly glowing mist drifted across the great floor of that vast cavern and there were areas of damp, dark soil from which sprouted moderately long green grasses, squat bushes and small trees.

Then there were the wozfolk being wozzles, wazzles, wizzles, wuzzles and wezzles. Groups of them were cooking things in the boiling hot pools, were cultivating plants, were taking things from some of the alcoves, were guarding other alcoves as if to stop them being used, or were carrying out many other activities. These wozfolk were a little bigger and darker than the wozfolk that Johnnie had met on his Alternate Earth. These ones also had a mixture of known and exotic technologies. They also had both more known and more exotic kinds of companions.

Leslielee halted her group and then, from her backpack, heaped up some small but very useful gifts. Wozzles, and more warlike wazzles, rode to the group on four legged wozfolk like wazzorses. Indeed wazzorses were considered to be of the wozfolk no less than any of the humanoids.

Leslielee bowed gracefully to the leader of the wozfolk group who remained on her fairly small but powerful mount. Then she spoke in fluent wozzle language. "We come in peace and with only good intentions of talk, trade and tribute. A fine people are wozfolk and a fine cavern you have here. I am Leslielee."

The wozzle spoke in turn. "AelelWozo is my name. We wozfolk are but caretakers of this great chamber. Tassie the arch-angel led us here but at this moment is not here in this great chamber. She informed us that you would be coming. We are to both make you welcome and to inform you of a problem that we have. For we are about to be attacked by a savage force of Hordafolk who seek to dominate this great and wondrous place, along with its gifts. Foolish as they are, they would not heed its dangers and might easily cause harm not just to themselves but to others. For these ancient chambers should not be open to mortal beings to come to. Tassie said you could help us in special ways and would do so automatically with out complaint."

Leslielee sighed. "Yes, my sister would say such a thing. Now, what is cooking?"

The wozzle rubbed her furry belly with its softer underbelly fur. "Gillfish freshly caught, tuberlongs freshly dug up and meatworms freshly sliced." She looked at the heap. "A good swap, then?"

Leslielee nodded. "Electric torches, pocket-tools, sets of game dice, flavoured foamgum, survival knives, stimpaks, foodbars, cupcans of coffee and other goodies are for the wozfolk as a tribute, of course."

But at the big meal they also had foods taken from alcoves where metre wide globes of organic and non-organic substances were being generated. The generated spheres were all being taken either to local reserves to be used in future, to be readied for longer distance transportation or, in some cases, were being used at once. They sat on mats near a cool pool of water and breezes made them feel quite pleasant. As the meal went on there was no formality, were no negotiations, and some of the Unityfolk there were getting restless so that Leslielee politely told them to settle down lest they offend the wozfolk customs.

PREPARING FOR TROUBLE: TO USE OR NOT TO USE?

The alcove was a great big nine metre wide cube and in it was a monstrous looking five metre tall creature like a wozzle with a great set of pointed ears, but he was not alone. Next to him was a fully grown adult female who was about three metres tall and next to her another adult female. Each of them was armoured with scale-metallic plating and had weapons such as mighty swords, massive revolver-pistols and great hunting-rifles. The fur was white, the eyes big and designed for very cold country. These were creatures designed for extreme cold, snow, ince and dealing with harsh mountainous conditions. These were yeti.

Yet also in the alcove were great big backpacks, huge for yet to use, a pair of great big snowhounds and a small towable snowsled packed with even more gear. This gear included a weapon that looked like a rocket-launcher of some kind but it also fired grapples that would be tied to long lengths of rope.

AelelWozo, the leader of the wozfolk, indicated the big creatures frozen inside their alcove. "What are they?"

Leslielee smiled. "Yeti and you can trust them." She snapped her fingers and the first three yet emerged from that place.

They were cloned yeti with a kind of ultimate virtual reality background. The three were soon making positive contact with both wozfolk and human Unityfolk. Yeti were indeed distant cousins to wozfolk and these three had knowledge of wazzles, wezzles, wizzles, wozzles and wuzzles. The huge yeti lumbered amongst the smaller woz but there was never a sense of threat from them. There was more tension between the yetifolk and humans at first but even that eased away fairly quickly.

Leslielee found that the yeti were wary of her in a way that the wozfolk were not and she was reminded that the yeti were more warlike, in general, than the wozfolk. Leslielee indicated the alcove that they had come from where more yeti and the other creatures were emerging along with the gear. "There will be variations but yes, more yeti are coming with their gear, their snowhounds or perhaps some other animals instead. Above us is harsh, bleak country and north of that are mountainous lands that are not inhabited by any intelligent species. There you could find a homeland."

The tall male growled. "Yes, a good idea, but can we trust your words, Walker of Worlds, or do I need to throw you across the chamber?"

Leslielee sighed. "Try to lift me up, go on."

The big male yeti arched his eyebrows in surprise and then crouched, took hold of Leslielee and went to lift her as he would a light weight but she did not budge. Again and again he tried until he was heaving and he stopped when both of his wives, annoyed, punched him in the sides. He stepped back and shook his head, then wiped sweat off his furry brow. "Yes, I see."

Leslielee then moved quickly, grabbed him and threw him lightly up into the air. He cried out but came down into a crouch, safely. Yet when he stood tall it was with a look of wonder on his face. "So you could have attacked us any time and did not do so."

"I am not your enemy but a threat is coming, I have been warned of this. They are the Hordafolk." She looked around as some wozfolk wandered past carrying what looked to be a combination of harp, spinning-wheel and a small wagon but it was madee of a brassy like material that was not metal. "Most of the items in alcoves in this place are most eccentric but the wozfolk are very good at recycling such things. This place is related to the Great Transdimensional Cube though it seems to be both outside of it and some distance from it. Tunnels run all directions from here, including to the mountainous region to the north with its high valleys and plateaus. Your people did not appear here by accident. No, you are being cloned for a reason. The questions of importance are by whom and for what reason? This whole great chamber is a tool of higher immortal entities who wish to create populations and other aspects of worlds. No mortals were meant to ever come here but only be created here and be sent away to some other realm instantly."

Then she turned as Tassie walked towards the yeti and herself. Tassie was almost identical looking to Tammie who was with Johnnie but Tassie was meaner and was armoured up like a mad warrior maiden complete with a huge sword scabbarded over her back; except in her case it was more than just a sword. She stopped and frowned softly. "Not Leslie than but an extension of her."

Leslielee smiled. "My name is Leslielee."

Tassie gave her a doubtful look and then nodded. "You will have to do, then. Some treacherous force of great power has opened this place up to mortal intrusion. We are the only ones to stand in the way of a large force of Hordafolk coming this way. You are expendable, Leslielee, and so are these mere mortals. Prepare to die for the...""

Leslielee slipped out her large revolver-pistol and fired it point blank at Tassie. The arch-angel looked shocked, then she sparkle shimmered and became a doppelganger, a so called living-vampire with shapeshifting and other deadly abilities. The dead doppelganger toppled dead to the hard stone floor.

Leslielee sighed. "Where are you, I can sense you are near."

The real Tassie stepped out of mid-air with a sparkling shimmer and stood there looking much the same as the false Tassie had done; if anything she looked meaner. She tapped the doppelganger with her foot and it vanished with a sparkling shimmer. She looked to Leslielee. "I needed to make sure you were you. There are doppelgangers and worse shapeshifters out there now, not to mention actual shapechangers. The Hordafolk are coming but we have time to make preparations to defend ourselves."

The Walker of Worlds could only agree.

PHYSICS AND HIGHER MATHAMATICS OF TRANSDIMENSIONAL CUBISM

Leslie and Tommie got a compact electric car and zipped along a wide freeway designed to take thousands of cars with ease. The compact suncar looked almost lost on the great four laner freeway, four lanes going in each direction, as its black roof panels absorbed solar energy from the sunlight pouring down from the suncrystal of that vast space. Leslie was speaking with her hands resting on the steering wheel despite that autodriver was driving them towards their destination. "Super virtual reality used a new theory that we came up with that we called physics and higher mathamatics of transdimensional cubism. It was as much a joke to us quins as it was reality. Only a very few people on our Alternate Earth got the joke but nobody would listen to their warnings." She was wearing a Tshirt and jeans now, along with punk style boots. "Our births on that Alternate Earth also led to badness happening, to our badness happening."

Tommie was examing a 3Dviewscreen and using the sleek aerodynamic traffic turret on the top of the car with its 3Dcameras. "Why is this freeway so empty when there are so many androids not so far away from this place?"

Leslie smiled. "Its a trap! The local demented UnityMentality is playing with us. Here they come now."

The jetcars came roaring along the freeway, two jet flames shooting out of the back of each machine. As the black machines came at them, they sprouted heavy machineguns on the bonnet that began to fire 12.7mm calibre bullets. It seemed impossible that these attackers should lose against the target of a softly armoured suncar. But at the last moment the suncar vanished with a sparkling shimmer and was now behind the jetcars. The black machines attempted to slow, to turn, but they were moving too fast. The suncar was gone down an off-rampway by the time they had turned back and now the suncar was lost amongst the gridwork of streets and laneways in a big area of ghettto city.

It was a ghetto city because it was where humans lived who could or would not go into super virtual reality. Society considered them to be the lowest of the low but supplied them with free housing, basic goods and basic entertainments. Sometimes bored teenagers went down in SVR-androids or robots to frighten the slummers or worse, to cause real death and destruction.

They parked the suncar in a small cut off laneway and made their way on foot through a covered laneway. Soon they were moving amongst humans but not poor suffering slummers but free humans running their own society. There were guards in body-armour and with EMPguns or powerful recoilless assault rifles. There were artisans working with what they could get and techs doing the same. Traders traded a wide range of goods, many exotic or even dubious of nature. Yet the big surprise were the big number of SVR-androids, poorly disguised as slummers, who had come there to buy goods and services.

Clearly Tommie had been there before. He led Leslie through a well disguised door and down a hallway, a rampway tunnel and then to a heavy but smallish vault wheeldoor. Two protectrons stood there on guard for it seemed protectrons were a common type of robot on that world as well, as were such as eyebots and sentrybots but not MrGutsys. Then the door was wheeling open and even as they stepped through into a big disk shaped chamber, Leslie was staring in amazement.

MAHARGAEDRA: AT THE CENTRE OF THE GAME TRANSREALITY CUBE MATRIX

Leslie saw the six of them, not five but six of them, in special capsules at the very centre of the great wheel shaped machine. Who was the sixth one? She had no idea. There was herself, Leslie, there was Bobbie, there was Johnnie, there was Joannie and there was Eddie but who was the sixth. Something surged inside harsh and painful made up of guilt, agony and true remorse.

Yes, there had always been six of them, not five but six of them but something had happened to the sixth because of the stupidy of the five.

The sixth capsule was much smaller than the other five, was about big enough to take a neobaby.

Around the outer machine were holographic projections showing various game realms and characters be it Tamriel or Fallout Planet or Captain Cosmos or many others. Centralia was there as a game expansion. There was WAR OF THE WORLDS 1945 and THE SLIDERS. There were lesser games and mentions of 3D encylopedias. Brothers of Steel fought supermutants in Washington DC. Zetan aliens invaded Huston. Daedra swarmed across parts of Cyrodiil and Skyrim. Wozfolk created warren cities and tried to survive over years of expansion. Doctor Who went from adventure to adventure in his TARDIS.

So what was really going on?

Was it all just an illusion?

Tommie shook his head. "No, not illusion. We are nine all together for we older three could have stopped you but out of our own foolishness we did not. Yes, we were supposed to be your good role models but instead we became your bad role models. We were also super geniuses but we were focused on others areas apart from hitech. We went to being a writer, an artist and an actress. When we should have been there for the six of you, we were not. We also failed the amazing neobaby but there are four others, one of whom is the dark thing, that we must deal with, the dark thing that manipulated us all except for the neobaby who knew better but whom we ignored."

Leslie nodded. "We could wake ourselves up but something tells me that it would not, could not, be that easy."

"It would also be extremely dangerous." Tommie looked around as if the arch-angel was seeing more than the chamber. "We must leave now and return to Cubetown. The Tenth knows we are here and is seeking to make sure we do not try to wake the six of you here. The Tenth, Eleventh and Twelth are two powerful for now to fight directly. We must deal with them indirectly at first and weaken them before we take them on directly though they be only manifestations of the Nine."

Sensing growing danger, Leslie nodded. So they departed the fasted way they could by facing each other, holding hands and teleporting out of there with a sparkling shimmer.

QUESTIONABLE HISTORIES OF CROSS OVER DIMENSIONAL CREATURES OF TAMRIEL

TROLLS, OGRES, GOBLINFOLK, WOZFOLK AND OTHERS OF THE WILDKIN

Trolls, ogres, goblinfolk, wozfolk and others found through out Tamriel, some being more spread out, as in the wildzones, are also found on Alternate Earths that suffered from the Doomsdays but in that case were found in their Underworlds only. Though there were some variations, they were essentially the same. They were all known as the wildkin.

VAMPIRISM, THE UNDEAD OR LIVING DEAD OR THE LIVE VERSIONS OF WHAT?

Vampires of Tamriel were not true vampires, were not the undead, but were of the living-dead able to go amongst normal society. Vampires of the Doomsday Alternate Earths were living feeders of bio-energy and blood, along with meat, of humans.

Zombies of Tamriel were animated by necromancic or daedric magic and were not truly undead. They were corpses animated by dark magic of the living death kind. The same could be said of Frankenstein monsters, or frankies, of some Doomsday worlds.

Liches of Tamriel and other supposed undead creatures were also of the living dead who had postponed true death. They also were not of the true undeath.

What then of robots and androids? Were they not mimics of life? There were exotic robotics on Tamriel as created by various ancient Mer races.

THE SUPERMUTANT OF MANY SUPERMUTANTS, A BRIEF FIRST MEETING

The thing was one great supermutant organism made up of many parts of supermutants fused together in one great heaving mass of heads, arms, legs, mouths, ears and other parts but also oddities such as tentacles, double jointed arms, claws, pincers, genitals and numerous things hard to describe.

It filled up most of the airlock chamber that it was in and though only semiactive, the three quickly decided that they could not go that way. Johnnie and Tammie both sensed that the monster was ever hungry, ever devouring and amazingly powerful along with being very hard to actually destroy. Apart from such as mouths full of fangs, claws, horns and pincers, it could spit flames, venom and other horrific projectiles. Somehow it had become trapped in that chamber and none of them considered that this was accidental; somebody had trapped the threat into that chamber and the three were not going to do something that would let it out.

But somebody had left them directions, in the form of a crude note, on how to get to a smaller secondary entrance to TekVault0087. It also warned them about the bizarre supermutant monster beyond the armoured wheeldoor.

THROUGH ANOTHER WAY AND INTO TEKVAULT0087 AT LAST

It was a TekVault that they walked into, no less and no more than that. It was VaultTek designed and constructed using mostly a mixture of robots, androids and humans in power armour. Many sections were prefabricated including modules such as apartment bedrooms. Many items were standardised down to drabness such as power-doors, 3Dwallscreens, wall-dispensers, elevators, 3Djukeboxes, VaultShop vendors, vaultbot robots, vaultdroid androids, standard robotremotes, security turrets, internal 3DTV, body-cubicles, sleeping-cubicles, SVR-capsulechairs, control panels, AVpickups, motion-detectors, floor panels, fluropanel lighting, spit recyling collectors and much more.

The subvault they went through was in fairly good condition, was semiactive with small roboremotes taking care of things, was dimly lit with emergency fluropanels. They found the robots and androids in their bays and the people in their sleeping cubicles. The humans were dying slowly. They wore sleeping jumpsuits or colour coded normal vault jumpsuits or light jumpsuit armour. With some doubts, Tammie and Johnnie woke them all up.

The Tekkers were not hostile to the newcomers, especially as they had been rescued by them. Slowly waking and in various stages of grogginess plus nausia, the Tekkers informed the newcomers that they had been attacked by a very dark and powerful psychic forces. Tekkers once served the TekCorps but that set of loyalties had slipped away a long time ago, especially when they realised that they had been betrayed when the supermutant research and development programs went out of control and the vault was abandoned. Along with the vault and its supermutants, most of the VaultTekkers were abandoned as well.

The wrongness with the supermutant programs was no accident but were a series of external infiltrations of a dark force that began to cause the madness in both tech network-systems and in the supermutants. Taken by surprise, the Tekkers had lost many people but most had survived to grab up many resources and to retreat back to safety. Why was this so? Because another mysterious force, a kind of robotic one, had come to their rescue.

Unity was arising amongst the Tekkers in a fairly slow and painful fashion as it did with groups who had once been heavily brainwashed. When the dark entity attacked the second, more recent time, Unity had pushed away the attack enough for the Tekkers to live but not enough for them to becom active again. Most likely they would have perished if Johnnie, Tammie and the Brother of Steel had not come along.

MEETING WITH THE TEKKER LEADER

"The Berskergers got their name because a supermutant leader tried to call out the word 'berserkers' but got the word twisted up. The other supermutants heard it and repeated it endlessly. The leader soon gave up trying to stop them using the distorted name." High Overseer Amos Handy, voted into power by a triannual election, adjusted his cybernetic-glasses and peered more closely at the holographic map of the vault displayed on one wall. "In this latest attack we lost some territory but not as much as one might expect. The ShadowLord of the Berskergers did not take advantage of the psychic attack to send in the supermutants though even the robots, androids and turrets had been made harmless. This is a mystery."

He pointed to the main entrance. "The placing of the Supermutamass there was done by the ShadowLord of the Berskergers to both control the monster and to stop anybody going in or out through there, including us Tekkers, the VatLorders and the Super87s. Oh, yes, there are the Factionless but they exist a goodly distance from those main vault doors. Why this was done, we do not know, for the blocking of that entrance causes difficulties for the Berskergers as much as it does for other TekVault0087 Factions."

Then he moved his hand even as he caused the 3Dmap of the vault to whirl around to give another view. "The VatLorders, a strange result of a secondary supermutant program, are there. The Berskergers hold a large area of the vault but strangely enough, while we factions fought each other the so called Factionless quietly conquered the majority of the vault. Mind you it is mostly areas that the rest of us have no interest in but the Factionless have made good use of the resources there. We Tekkers have been trading with them as much as possible but trade convoys are threatened by Berskergers, Vatlorders, wild supermutations and swarms of radroaches."

He turned to the newcomers. "Why did you come here?"

Johnnie responded. "To rescue Fawkes, the leader of the Super87s, and to learn just what was happening here in TekVault0087."

"That would be in the area once controlled by the Super87s but now by the Berskergers. Super87s now only control a demivault away from the main vault by a goodly distance." The High Overseer pointed outwards from the vault and to the demivault. "Or so our rather unreliable data tells us."

Johnnie shook his head. "The Super87s were forced to give up even that demivault. In reality they are no longer a TekVault0087 Faction. They have gone to Little Lamplight."

The other man nodded. "That would be the false settlement where the wild clone children are sent from TekVault0089. Truth is we Tekkers do not know much about what went on or is going on in the other two TekVaults linked closer to us except that TekVault0088 was involved in ghoulification experimentation and TekVault0089 had something to do with cloning programs and even supplying clones for experimentation in TekVault0087 and TekVault0088. Except details are blurred. Children grew up in Little Lamplight and then went to Big Lamplight. Why, we do not know. They then vanished as thirty year old adults. Why or how? Again we do not know except they are called 'wild clones' which begs the question, are there 'tame clones' and just what are they?."

High Overseer Amos Handy took out a small datachip and passed it to Johnnie. "The information in this datachip is about certain individuals in the vault who might be able to tell you more, about some special locations that you could check out and other clues. We Tekkers sent three special teams to investigate these clues and none returned. That was years ago and we still do not know what happened to them but we have little hope for their survival. Their details are also in the datachip."

"We will try to find your people." Tammie answered this time. "I am an arch-angel."

Amos did not look convinced so Tammie made her energy wings appear and caused them to spread out in all of their glory. The large chamber was filled with glorious golden light and all in it stared in wonder as they were filled with joyful, softly healing and energizing energies. That is except for Johnnie who sighed and considered that his sister was showing off.

QUESTIONABLE HISTORIES OF CENTRALIA

VARIED MYSTERIES OF THE LAMPLIGHT CAVERNS OF CENTRALIA

1925, THE GALLERY OF WONDERS

A large group of visitors and their escorts found an amazing gallery, a great cavern dotted with strange cube shaped alcoves inside of which lay many strange wonders. After some hesitation, and ignoring the escorts, some of the visitors started to grab up exotic foods, artworks, devices and even weird living creatures. Anything they took was soon being replaced by identical or almost identical items. At first all it was was a greed frenzy but soon trouble began as a big hairy worm like creature began to attack people and some of the exotic devices exploded. A man drank what looked like bubbly wine and then the substance burned him away from the inside. The armed guards and other escorts did what they could to save as many visitors as they could and those visitors who had not taken any part in the madness were all saved; on the other hand most of those who had taken part in the frenzy, were killed.

The survivors fled and Torchwood, along with other paranormal specialists and some Clansfolk, searched for the Gallery so as to make it safe and perhaps to study it but where its location was said to be was just the same cavern that had always been there.

1927-1931: SUPER POWERED SIX

From 1927 to 1931 there appeared five teenage super antiheroes in glittering costumes and one neobaby in a cute costume who was also super powered. There was Flamegirl, Zeroboy, Icegirl, Stingerboy, Sparkgirl and Superbabe. Sometimes the Super Six, as they became commonly known, appeared to rescue people or to do other good deeds. But sometimes they appeared to tease people, to steal small cheap things from shops or generally to make a nuisance of themselves. One one occasion they took down a gang of dangerous bank robbers. On another occasion they rescued thirty-two trapped people. Yet on another occasion they dropped itching powder, stink bombs and smoke bombs into a big official dance inside a big glowcavern but they then made sure nobody was hurt in the chaos. In the middle of 1931 a Boy Scout group reported seeing six dead bodies floating past them in a fast flowing stream, they being the Super Six. Something powerful had killed them but they looked oddly at peace. They were never seen again.

1928: GRAND MURALS OF THE TWILIGHT CAVERN

Over a period of five months a great cavern appeared and on its walls were very large murals, amazingly accurate, showing Aquatic Martians invading the world. The murals focused on Golden Greens of Centralia and were from various viewpoints. They showed the appearance of the great teleport gates and the Brotherhood of Steel. Yet other murals showed Centralia being invaded by such as giant bright red tomatoes, by glowing flying-saucers, by giant hand-puppets, by swarms of giant insects and by a great lizard monster with jagged fins running down its spine that spat great bolts of flaming energy. Because of this and other reasons the real warnings in the cavern were not heeded by most.

1930: AIRCRAFT FROM NOWHERE

In 1930 a great cavern was discovered by a team searching for ancient artefacts but instead they found five advanced torpedoe bombers, an advanced flying-boat of fairly large size, an even more advanced supersonic fighter jet, an even more advanced supersonic jumpjet and a flying-saucer known as an aerosaucer. They were all indicated as American planes of some future. They were quickly isolated and made classified. The USA tried to but failed to claim ownership of them but did take part in the study programs of the technologies that led to many breakthroughs in technologies of the time and these helped to slow the Martian Invasion when it first began. None of the air-crews were ever found.

IN GROGNAK'S PRIDE

Grognak's QuasiTARDIS was of course made to look inside like a mixture of barbarian castle and cave village. Being a QuasiTARDIS it was bigger inside than out but only nine times bigger inside than outside instead of the internal vastness of a true TARDIS. On the outside it was a dragonboat with a cabin.

Grognak took a long deep drink from a drinking horn and then wiped wine from his hairy chin. Then he pointed to his big holographic map table in his Campaigns Chamber. At that moment it was showing the Candlelight Caverns, or at least a fair sized chunk of it. "There is the slidership by what I have been told and there is the Alternate Earth Transit Orb, or AETO. The slidership is from an Alternate Earth where no Martian Invasion or Doomsday took place or any zetan or votan invasions either. The AETO is from the Alternate Earth where Johnnie is. Neither is going to be easy to get to according to data that I have been picking up."

It was clear that the Vaultfolk of TekVault0333 did not really wish to talk about their vault, their mission or anything else of importance.

In contrast the Sliders were only too happy to relate their various experiences.

The Sliders were at the map table drinking coffee or tea. The VaultDwellers were huddled off in a corner on big cushionseats and were whispering to each other. Foolish to think that they could not be easily overheard by Joannie or Grognak or even by the QuasiTARDIS itself.

Quin pointed to a series of tunnels. "Could we not follow them right up to where the slidership is parked?"

Grognak nodded. "Could do but the place is infested with trolls, ogres and some new kind of monster to the area called mirelurks. Teleporting the QuasiTARDIS sounds simple enough but there are dangerous and powerful entities out there who could track it and even attack it." He changed angles of the 3Dmap and indicated another spot. "If we land the GROGNAK'S PRIDE there, I think the type of rock there will make it harder for the teleportation materialisation to be detected."

Joannie nodded also but pointed just to one side of where Grognak had done. "Better here, my barbarian hero."

Wade shook her head. "I do not trust those VaultDwellers. They are up to something."

Professor Maxman Artu was having his ego stroked by a young barbarian Swordmaiden as he explained to her concepts of higher mathamatics. What he did not guess was that she knew far more about such things than he ever would but she smiled and pretended otherwise.

Remb Crying Man Brown was examining a musical instrument that looked like an electric medieval harp.

Maggie Beck, the soldier, was practising with a sword with the assistance of two of Grognak's wives. They all moved quick and smooth but the wives were slowing down for Maggie's sake.

Joannie responded to Wade. "The three of them are frightened. They want to go back home to their own Alternate Earth and to TekVault0333. Yet I do not think that they fear for their own lives. Instead I sense others are involved. They are trying to form some clever plan but they keep running into the fact that they are in an alien transport, surrounded by alien forces and that they need to get back to their AETO. Only one, the young man, seems to have the dillusion that they could do something like take over the GROGNAK'S PRIDE. The others know better."

So the decision was made and the QuasiTARDIS was launched. It vanished with a sparkling shimmer from the big glowcavern where it had rested like some stranded dragonboat a very long way from any ocean.

GOBLINFOLK AND BLADES

When the GROGNAK'S PRIDE materialised this time it did so in the guise of a big boulder that emerged to be hidden in a dark shadowy area at the edge of a vast glowcavern stretching into the distancee where two small armies were fighting. A force of Goblin Tribal Imperial warriors were clashing hard with Cyrodilin Imperial Blades, elite bodyguards to the Empress herself. In magical power armour the BladeKnights, BladeGuards and BladeMages were holding the top of a fortified hill against a far large force of goblins, gremlins, ogres, trolls and other creatures including a few tall, angular hobgoblins. The monstrous ogres, trolls and carnivore apes were equalled by the big hulkgoblins that outnumbered them.

The fighting was savage as the attackers went in waves up the hill only to run straight into magical arrows, slashing magical swords, bolts of magical energy and even summoned elemental creatures of various kinds that struck down the attackers. The Blades were mostly Cyrodilin Commoners but there were a couple of Imperials, some orcs and some beastfolk of different kinds. It was quickly evident that the Blades were far better as fighters both in the individual and group sense.

Joannie quickly made up her mind to support the Blades because she did not trust the GTI and she needed to have the Cyrodilin Empress and her people to trust her.

So she emerged with Grognak the Barbarian and a small force of his people to race across the cavern on horse back. They struck the rear of the goblinfolk forces with a mighty blow as Joannie used her elemental powers to hurl energy projectiles and Grognak struck with his great sword while his followers smashed into the goblinfolk like a bowling bowl through a pattern of pins. The goblinfolk forces became confused and then panicky. Their hobgoblin leaders tried to keep control of their troops but failed. Goblins, hulkgoblins, gremlins fled and then so were trolls, ogres and carnorillas.

Thus ended the battle as neither the Blades or the newcomers gave chase of the goblinfolk forces.

WITH THE BLADES' TASKFORCE

The Blades had not meant to end up in the Underlands that were mostly a dark mystery or even unknown to the surface dwellers, Overlanders, but had been forced to flee from a large force of vampiric mercenaries serving the Duchess. They had then been tricked by a strange woman into going down into the Underlands and they had been unable to find their way back to the surface for close to a month. Yet they had managed to trade peacefully with some local peoples, had survived quite well until the Goblin Tribal Imperium had begun trying to destroy them. They had ended up in that great chamber defending themselves from a much larger force of goblinfolk and wondering if they would survive.

The BladeKnight Captain Shevassa stood next to her warhorse with is armour and she studied both Grognak and Joannie with care. "The Empress sent us to learn more about Duchess Elaine Tarada, about the legitimacy of her claim to a title and territories and how much of a threat she is to the Empire. Yet she also gave some odd orders that we should expect to meet a strange, powerful and youthful looking woman of your description, Joannie."

Joannie frowned softly for it seemed that Eddie, Johnnie, Leslie and herself had often been expected to appear by people they met. "Somehow that does not surprise me. I need to go to Cloud Ruler Temple."

The BladeKnight frowned. "To the comfort retreat of the Empress? Why?"

"We both know that Cloud Ruler Temple is far more than that." Joannie responded. "It is a great underground fortress but also a place where the Blades and others are trying to better understand the strange new technologies that came from the Underworld and to create ways to counter them better."

The BladeKnight shook her head. "No, I did not but thanks to your loose tongue, now I do. The Blades number now in five Legions and fifteen other forces. When many Legionaries were driven from the old Imperial Legions by the Emperor's mad purges, they joined the Blades. The purges were strange because only Legionaries in the newer Legions, as created by the Emperor, were effected. Now those Legions are known as the Emperor's Legions and it is said that they are filled with strange mercenaries of fell ilk."

Then the Blade frowned. "There is something most odd about your appearance, Joannie."

Joannie snorted. "Thank you very much."

The warrior frowned some more. "I do not mean that there is something wrong with you appearance, you are strikingly beautiful, but look at this picture of the Duchess Elaine Tarada." He pulled out a coloured sketch of good accuracy and showed it to Joannie. The arrogantly proud young woman could easily have been Joannie's twin sister or that of Leslie or even of Bobbie when Bobbie was female.

A chill went down Joannie's spine. She passed it back. "The Twelth can appear like any of us of the Five and often does. She is always a dark reflection of us. For her to take the shapeform of a vampire is typical enough. I can not kill her and she can not kill me but I can drive her off. The Tenth is imagination gone wild, the Elventh is inventiveness gone wild and the Twelth reflects us more directly. There are the Five, the One that make the Five into the Six and then the Three that turn the Six into the Nine. Add the Tenth, Eleventh and Twelth and one has the Dozen. Then there is the Thirteenth, which is perhaps the dark reflection of the Nine."

The Blade shook her head in wonder. "This is all beyond me for I am but a mere warrior but you could help us undermine the evil of the Duchess Elaine Tarada."

Joannie nodded. "We will find out just what she is up to for you see things are rare straight forward with the Twelth of the Thirteen."

The BladeKnight shook her head. "Perhaps we should stick with calling her the Duchess Elaine Tarada."

Joannie smiled. "Very well, we will do that. Greetings Duchess Elaine Tarada. What did you do to the real Blades and their animals?"

The false BladeKnight suddenly laughed even as she began to fade away with a soft sparkling shimmer. "Very good, Joannie, you will find them not too far away or at least what is left of them. Damned the Empress that she thought she could send the Blades into my sovereign territories."

Joannie snorted in disdain. "They are not your sovereign territories but belong to the Cyrodilin Empire."

"Oh that will be gone soon. The Cyrodilins have been seduced, tricked, and they have become dependent on the very things that will destroy them." The Twelth then vanished and so did all the fake Blades and their animals. In the distance so did all the fake goblinfolk and other creatures. The only ones now in the great chamber were Joannie and Grognak, Grognak's followers having gone back to his QuasiTARDIS.

Joannie turned to him. "You are the Tenth or at least an aspect of the Tenth."

Grognak nodded. "Yes but I am on your side, as is the Eleventh. The Twelth is divided against itself."

They found the Blades but there was nothing wrong with them. They were all having a jolly good time having been mind tricked into thinking they were on some kind of leave. They had even been provided with a feast of fruit, meats, steamed vegies and sweets along with sweet tea, coffee, wine, mead and beer.

The Blades were hurt only of pride as they were brought back to reality but then they and the feast were transferred into the GROGNAK'S PRIDE where others joined in, even the VaultDwellers.

I'm still seeing the problems I addressed some pages back, though I do not expect them to vanish immediately.

But I love the way your mind works and imagines things. This post is great:

...or post #121. You make enough original material to make universes and stories within stories. Your worlds seem very realized.
