Vindekarr
The trick is to aim to the side of them that they are moving and hold the reticle in front of them. this is called "Leading". For example if my target is running directly in front of me, at about on hundred yards distance, I would simply have to hold my optics about a foot ahead of him to hit him. Just aim a little bit ahead of them, along the direction they're running-with practice you'll be able to hit even a moving aircraft. I sniped a Spy Plane with my L-96 last night and destroyed it-nobody thought it could be done but I simply lead my target correctly and the laws of physics meant my bolts struck true. ub3rman123
I just mostly lack the hand-eye coordination to do that. That's why I usually end up turning the mouse sensitivity all the way down and love game like Borderlands which adjust your aiming a tad for you. Unrelated note, is there a way to unlock all of the campaign levels? I got to Rebirth and the thing keeps freezing up around the (Spoiler?) Nova 6 attack. I'd prefer to be able to skip the mission than replay the entire dang thing over and over and pray it doesn't hang up.
CommanderCrazy
You don't want to skip that mission ub3rman. The ending has a major plot part in it.
Vindekarr
Yes, that one is the mission that ties the story together, the end cutscene of Rebirth expllains 90% of the plot and is absolutely vital to the game coherency. And besides, it's a really fun mission, and one of the last. Frankly I cant praise this game enough-I've just got 100% completion in Combat training and am about to start multiplayer, at which point nerdrage will probably effect my judgement a bit, but right now I think this is one of the best FPS games I've ever seen. Everything just works, at first I thought it was waaay too punishing on snipers, but once I learned how to pick my moment to shoot, i realised that what they'd really done was make sniping require a small amount of skill a patience. I still think the .50 machine guns are hugely OP right now, but that can easily be rebalanced. Right now the M-60 and Stoner 63 will rip apart pretty much anything at any range if you can keep on target and that's a bit unfair, but it's by no means crippling since weapons like the SPAS(the ultimate short range stealth weapon, vast power, silent shots), Dual Kiparis(slaughter incarnate at short range), AK-47(purist's assault rifle, hugely powerful, very accurate, very reliable), Commando(the ultimate AR right now, silent, deadly.), AUG(shredding firepower, very accurate, easy to learn) and L96(one hit kill, completely silent, huge range) are all uber OP in their own ways if you use them well. And secondly, you just feel like such a badass. It's got NO aim assist whatsoever now, and so when your Throwing Axe sails gleefully through the air, buries itself in the enemy MVP's skull, and wins you a match, it feels like YOU threw itm, like YOU won the game, like YOU were the champ. CommanderCrazy
I prefer the G11 myself Vin.After all, it is the only gun in the world to have a microprocessor, caseless rounds too. And it's freaking awesome. http://www.codblackopsblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/Black-Ops-Weapons-G11.jpgDeath... In a rectangular box. ub3rman123
GUess I'll just play through the slow sneak mission from hell over and over until it stops cutting out. Wasn't there some 'continue from last checkpoint' in MW2?
RZ1029
Only in the form of dying. Even when you "continued from last checkpoint", all it really did was kill you. On random note #1: G11 + Silencer = Beast. It's like the M16 done right. However, I'm finding snipers are actually pretty good on Black Ops. You can't do the 360 quickscope laddershots, but the L96 is a 1-shot from pretty far out (infinite?) and isn't that hard to aim, with a bit of leading practice. So far, though, favorite class is probably the AUG/Galil + Reflex (I don't use the Red Dot ever since I found out the Reflex reduces recoil) with Crossbow/Final pistol + full auto as secondary. I've been running hardline a lot trying to get the pro, and it's just nice. No real need for Scavenger, since I almost always die before I run out of ammo, or I can steal someone elses gun. I usually run slight of hand, though I'm using steady aim on the AK-74 for my CTF/rush kit. Hacker's pretty much the only thing I'm rocking in the 3rd, I don't see any major use for the other 3rd sloters. CommanderCrazy
G11 with Low Power Scope is even better. The gun doesn't make much noise anyway.
Vindekarr
I use Ghost Pro/Warlord Pro/Ninja Pro. Ninja Pro is the best 3 AFAIC, because it removes ALL audible sound from your character except gunshots, which silencers handle. You dont speak, dont breath, dont make footsteps, dont even shout when you die-it makes you 100% silent, it's just a bit slow to unlock. Ghost pro is it's perfect balancer, Ghost makes you invisible on radar, even if the enemy has a Spy Plane or you fire, but it also gives you highly effective camo. Trust me, with Ghost, you're almost invisible when stationary and in the right sort of ground. And yes, the G11 is epic beyond epic. For midrange scoped "sniping" without using a full sniper rifle, it's one of three really strong contenders: the Fabrique FAL is near perfect, the M 14 is perfect, and the G 11 is simply uber. I cannot count the amount of headshots I've gotten since I got mine. Another surprise packet is the Spectre, most people just say "smgz iz 4 nubz" but it is infact and excellent weapon when given a grip and reflex. Personaly, I think this makes a perfect short range substitute for an AK-47. It's very accurate, but phenominaly powerful for it's size. RZ1029
So what ranks are all you guys? I hit 50 yesterday and I don't think I'm going to prestige. I find myself using the same 3-5 classes just about all the time, and I don't really think I need more. What about you guys? EDIT: Oh, and Specter is almost as good as the 74u in my opinion.
