phuhcue
hello.i do not mod. i have no idea whether this idea is even remotely possible.so... would it be possible to add fallout 3's game area to new vegas?as if it were a large dlc with access via airport or train such as the pitt etc. can it be done? can we play through f03 and the dlc from within nv? carywinton
The only way I see this as possible is to have all the same resources from FO3 exist in NV, and just glancing through it in the G.E.C.K I see a great deal of them still present. You would have to use the GECK to "build" these areas into a new *.esp resource, then you could play in those areas. I also see a great many "?" marks next to the FO3 resources, this I think means NV is not quite sure what to do with them.
SirMeteor
I thought about this myself but eventually decided to give up on the idea (even though I wouldn't be able to pull it off anyway) because of one thing: money. It's not a problem for those of us that have Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, but with a mod like the one proposed, someone with just Fallout: New Vegas could get Fallout 3 and the DLC for free. Naturally, I imagine some people would be quite unhappy about this, since it's basically pirating.

Surely one could take the ruins of DC and modify an actual good storyline, let's be frank here...yes Bethseda did a good job with the ruined architecture in Fallout 3; however they can't write stories at all these days (Oblivion was just as bad, I couldn't even finish the main storyline...one too many redundant hellgates.) I enjoyed the architecture of the DC ruins in Fallout 3, but frankly that was all I enjoyed...I'm glad they hired the Black Isle devs to write for them. CarlBratananadalewski
Yes it is possible. And yes, it is being worked on as we speak I believe. And before you all ask, no, I dont have a link. Sorry :/
fronzelneekburm
Would be hell of a work. Yeah some stuff is still there, some not. As thats many thousand scripts, objects, quests, dialogues and so we are talking about it would take like ages to manually merge the two. I am currently working on ONE single item, the prototype medic power armor to be precise - and it's already driving me nuts. The worst part is that you can't open up the F3 and NV GECK at the same time. Of course it is possible, but regarding the enormous amount of data to be processed i have doubts it will happen any time soon.
jaygrins
Why recreate the fallout 3's dc storyline, Would it be possible to have the fallout 3 as a required mod, ie you have to have the game legally bought same as the dlc and use the bsa\esm archives etc as a resource and recreate certain parts with a new story line, Just a thought, I don't know what legal copyright issues there would be to do such a thing. CarlBratananadalewski
Yup its definitely gonna be a LOT of work. However if it gets done it will truly be "The Mod of Ages" :)
LordSam17
This reminds me of something I thought about. Why can't we learn what happened to the LW, to the BOS in DC? If this mod is in the making, I'd like to go there just to see what the character did and how it's panning out. Example: Let's say the mod has the LW going good, no FEV, and killing Eden. The BoS would be powerful, but the slavers would now have an opening in power. The raiders would no doubt procure some tech from dead Enclave. Hell, I even went so far as to write a partial story on what happened at least 3 or 4 years after the purifier. If this mod gets made, it needs to explain what happened to the LW and how the Wasteland in coping.
Fairfield
I thought about this myself but eventually decided to give up on the idea (even though I wouldn't be able to pull it off anyway) because of one thing: money. Naturally, I imagine some people would be quite unhappy about this, since it's basically pirating. Not necessarily; as the mod could essentially be a series of patches that retool Fallout 3's resources into something else--and patches for games are free and legal. I've noticed through experience that Fallout New Vegas wrote itself right onto my harddrive, meaning I can play it without the disk, but still needed the disk to begin with. I don't know if that happened with Fallout 3, but if not it's presumably possible to do so by mating it to the upgraded New Vegas engine. So the mod could be made in such a way that people actually need both games to play it.
