Cyberspy
I'd like to do a radio station mod. I have tons of old Western Swing and Big Band music that I think would go well with New Vegas. What are the rules as far as what I can and can't use?
fronzelneekburm
Basically you can't use anything as nearly every song since 1924 is copyrighted. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_domain_music Archive.org has probably the largest collection of Public Domain music, although there are some pieces that are for sure NOT PD although they are flagged as such. I'd try to stay cautious. Also keep in mind that the laws differ from country to country and even from state to state. So most music that wopuld count as PD in the US is NOT PD in the state of New York for example. And even when you sing yourself you might steal a tune or part of it which is copyrighted itself. So you prolly understand my first answer "basically you can't use anything". Quite safe is to use material from US Army/Navy/Marine/Airforce choir or so as works done by US Government employees during their work time are always automatically PD. Also stuff from wikipedia (They have a short list) is safe to use. Always note the source and copyright status (Hopefully PD) when you use music files in your mods. micalov
Aslong long as your not uploading it, you can do what you like on your own PC.

So basically, I can't use any of my records, CDs or MP3s. Because its all copyrighted material. I thought so, but it never hurts to ask. Thanks for the reply. You can always upload the .esp without the songs and offer a "suggestion" of good songs and how to set them up properly i think.
