Hi, I would really appreciate some advice on how i know what order to put my mods in when i use my nvmm? Im quite new to the world of mods, and especially the Mod Manager, I try to use theload order/sorter tool but it doesnt work properly. Any help and advice on how i choose my load order would be great, as i have about 17 mods installed and i know the order is important so the game runs as stable as possible. Many thanks...

well, it usually depends on the mods you have

but the basics are:

esms first, then esps

and if a certain mod has a master (it means that it's using data from another plugin) then the master has to be first

other than that, it all depends on the mods you use, because if all the mods are like weapon or armor mods, that don't really affect the game, then the order doesn't matter that much

if you are using overhauls and such (there will be more for NV later, i guess) then the load order really counts

but if you are still not sure, look in the pages of the mods you DLd, and see if it says anything about the load order

if not, then there are usually no problems with load orders

Firstly, thanks for the reply Assassin, i guess the biggest mod i have is Fellout, which i have placed second in my list just under the main vegas esm?? the other main one is the weather mod, then yeh most of them are just little game tweaks here and there, extra perks etc, with a couple of armour, guns and companion mods thrown in for good measure, lol, i do also have the inventory sorter mod that categorizes your inventory, it actually comes in three parts but the uploader did state the load order for it, but im not 100% where it goes in my list so ive put it just after my weather mod which is just after fellout, then all my lesser mods follow on from that?? im hoping thats kinda right, my game has crashed on me unexpectedly maybe 4 or 5 times up to now, but im putting part of that down to the glitches that have yet to be ironed out, which im sure they will be in good time...cool name by the way,lol

thanks :)

as far as i can say, you load order should work fine

and the crashes appear when you have mods, no way to really prevent this (though there are things that limit the crashes, at least for FO3, so for NV they will come in due time)

try the game, and see if it works well like that

but do check for compatibility issues of the mods you get, because you might try to use incompatible mods, which should only cause troubles

hope this helps :)

seems the more mods i add the more random crashes that maybe just bad luck or because i have a ton of mods and the load order is fubard or something but often times my mods share not much with other mods and fnvedit does not show any major conflicts and etc so a really good general guide on load order would be appreciated, know fo3 and oblivion had comprehensive load order guides that are probably floating around that might offer a general idea as to what mods should be placed where, most of them related to the full overhaul mods but still should give a good guide post to go by tho i looked other day and google was no help to turn up one.

yep, tons of mods do usually produce lots of crashes

no real way around that......

now, if you want a good way to sort your load order, look at Wrye Bash for Oblivion

it basically divides your mods into sections, depending on the type of mod (armor, weapon, quest, overhaul etc)

apply this with the esm first, esp later system (that is a must) and you should have a rather good load order
