WastelandAssassin
i'm a guy, and a teenager if that's not enough, and my first char was a male called Frankie but my next one will be a female character (for the evil legion *censored* ) but in my opinion, playing a female doesn't make you a pervert at allif you sit and want in front of it, then that's a completely different thing (and quite a disturbing thing, if i may add...... )still, there is nothing wrong with playing a femaleand if you look at mods, especially for Oblivion, you will find some slutty stuff for male characters as well (if slutty is the right term, that is)and there is nothing wrong with that as well, just don't use it if you don't want to but really, don't go here throwing such terms like perverts, especially without any valid reason Answer me this... If you say there is no differance between playing a female character and a male character, then why decide to change genders at all? I'm not saying its weird for men to play a female character; if you're a homosexual and you believe that a female character better expresses your personality or even if you're just a really feminine heterosexual male and don't like how men in video games are ALWAYS portrayed as muscle-bound machoist, then by all means go for it... I just don't understand why a normal, straight man feels the need to create a female character. Well... Why not? Personally, I flip a coin unless I'm using a game as a story base and have a specific character in mind. But at the end of the day the game is imagination based escapism for the people who play it. If there really is no difference between male and female characters, than both are equally valid options for a player, no matter what their gender may be in real life. After all, this is a game where we decide who lives and who dies, the fate of entire nations, whether we are a petty thief, a strong armed thug, a noble paladin, a well-intentioned diplomat, or just a smarmy rogue who talks those other folk into doing his dirty work for him or her. Yeah, sure, there are a hound dogs who just play a female character for the tight clothes, but there are just as many who think, "Well, I want my next character to be a Janeway type, willing to fight when she has to, but more willing to talk.", or "Hey, I liked the Sam Carter character from Stargate, how would she deal with the wasteland?" We do it because that's what our imagination asks of us. this is really correctbeing a bit of a role player in real life (nothing too much, just a little :)), i find that there is a huge difference in characteristics, when you choose the gender of your characterand quite frankly, usually it's the females that get the less hack n' slash feel, and the more conspiring play style, due to the lack of physical strength and such things (depends on what and how you play, but still......) so there is no reason one should not play any character, of any typeit's why he chooses this character that really mattersif you just play it for fun, then it's ok, if you play if because there is a story behind it, even better, if you play to look at a naked character all day...... well, whatever floats your boat, i guess :tongue:wouldn't call that normal, but no real way around that but it's always nice to see another serious role-player around here :)and it's even nicer to hear some wisdom, spelled out in a nice simple waythanks for sharing :)and Kudos to you as well
necrark
i never played a girl in fallout, or any elders scroll, because i'm looking for immersive and realistic game experience.i don't care how my character look, i allways play in 1st person view, i MUST feel like i really walk on these worlds, it's not the character who talks to people, it's me.and so i wouldn't be able to be scared by a super mutant smashing my face if i scream like girl (no offense to the female gender^^) i really enjoy those game the way i play them, each time i play, i'm traveling another world and it's awesome in mmo i try to play a male character every time but sometimes they are just too ugly :)and in mmo the realism isn't that important so i care less, but it allways bother me when i play a female character that other player come close to me with some pervert intention^^actually i just play 2 female character all mmo included (and there are mmo where the armor or the dress isn't a bikini... so to answer the thread, no you aren't the only one!but everyone as his/her game preferences, i enjoy my realistic game that way, shall the others enjoy their gaming way:p (sorry for any mistakes wroten here, english isn't my native langage)
cerebus23
haha I didn't think my first post would be in this topic, but check out my avatar :) I choose male av's and I am male :).I read an interesting blog on this very topic (Gender bending in videogames) at a website called thinkfeelplay . com (Not sure if I'm allowed to advertise? so you can search for it in google if you like)I find it a little strange that males play as females, I don't really care either way, but it's an interesting topic to look at.Apparently females found out that males have it tough in MMO's (i.e don't ask for help if you're male, it's not cool lol), and males have found that females get tonnes of help (at times, plus sexual advances and what-not which are not helpful) - if you like psychology stuff the blog is worth a read :) lol my friend noted this since he like to play female toons people give you free stuff, offer help wo asking me i always assume that mmos are a sausage fest and 80% of females in them are males to begin with so i dont give free stuff nor offer help unless asked :P. BloXboX
Well.. Im gonna have to agree with OP To be honest. All the mods and almost EVERYONE on Nexus always plays a girl because they want to see her naked, And get the Type 3 Stuff. No offence You can see my character on my signature, I dont like playing a girl that looks like 13 Years old and has Huge breast displaying w/ s*** armor that doesnt protect you. I usualy play a guy i am NOT Good or Evil. I can be both. But im anonymous and keep my Identity secret, I never display my face.

cerebus23
does it make me a pervert for dling slopfs females for oblivion and kumino manor, and when they went swimming or went to bed well.....kinda creepy tho going to sleep in your own room and having one of the girls of manor naked next to you when you woke up and have no memory of anything :P. sandbox ai ftw! either way i dld it just to see and gods were his models detailed not that it got my rocks off or anything but i was like geeze this guy put a ton of work into these models and skins lol. did give more a sense of realism to the place you know you having a posh mansion all your own with swimming pool, garden, alchemy tower, etc etc, and it is filled with female vendors, cooks, maids and whatever else they did in there. one of the best house mods for oblivion ever period and hell the solph mod just made it like the playboy mansion come nighttime, really seemed to liven the place up at lest,
WuphonsReach
(shrugs) Back when I started playing MMOs around 2001 - I played nothing but males. I just couldn't wrap my head around the idea of playing a female. It was a bit of a mind warp when I met my first gender-bender couple where the guy played a female toon and the female played a male toon. I still stuck with only playing male characters as my main for a long time after that. But in the past few years I've had more fun roleplaying both sides of the fence. My most enjoyable character to play is a female gnome in WoW. Who is just an awesome little bundle of chaos and destruction. The male gnomes were just too creepy for my tastes. In Oblivion, I played male elves. My male characters in Fallout 3 just never got off the ground as I couldn't find their inner voice and couldn't identify with them. My first character in New Vegas is also female and wears the sheriff hat & duster. Not exactly a sexy outfit.
PlayerOblivion
I don't like playing as a male character. Though my most serious game on a Bethesda/Obsidian game was a male. What if a female player plays as a male then? Back in the World of Warcraft days I played as a male dwarf. He looked like Gimli.
Minto44
My first New Vegas character was a male named Fawkes. Just as a tribute to the most awesome companion of FO3, I was quite dissapointed that there was no Super Mutant companion in NV. :( Atleast we got a ghoul! My second character, melee legion character was female. Simply because I thought the idea of a female character who was dead set on joining/helping the legion was fun. Third and fourth characters were also females. Planning on making my next one a male. :)
