White Screen at Solas Revelation/Finding Skyhold

I played through the Battle for Haven on the new graphics card with all mods installed and while there was a white screen after the Solas talk, the game did load and continue as it should. There was a much longer than average loading time to get to the Skyhold journey cutscenes however, about a minute.

So my conclusion is that a sub-standard graphics card below game specs is unable to handle the graphics that occur during that particular part of the game if it is modded. My suggestion is to remove all mods, play the game through to Skyhold, then reinsert them using Greywolfe's method above. It will be difficult if you are playing with an older patch but the new Modmanager v52 is easy to use if you want to update to the current patch and use mods.

I dont believe it has anything to do with the specs of your computer. i found that since i had mods installed it had to be the reason. So this is what i did.

Go to where to the update folder is for dragon age, open it up and look for the patch folder. open up the MFT file with notepad. it should tell you what version the game is. Now go back to the update folder and find the patch _mod manager folder. Open that up and open up the MFT file. You should notice this version is one higher the the original MFT patch.

Make a copy of your Patch -mod manager folder somewhere on your computer. once its done delete it out of the update folder. Go into the original patch folder and change the version number in the MFT file to the number that was the patch _mod manager MFT number. So EG . If original patch was 11 and patch mod manager was 12 i would make a back up of the mod manager patch delete it then change the original patch from 11 to 12.

start playing dragon age again, you may also need to lower the graphics - i just set mine to low and when it gets to that screen with solas you should notice that the game should work, yes your mods wont be in their , but once you get through to skyhold and go through the long story and are finally able to play it again. change your graphics to whatever you had. Quit the game.

Go back and open up for update folder and locate the patch folder again, open up the MFT file and change the version number back to the origial number it was on. In this case my original number was 11. save it. now just copy the back up you made of the patch mod manager back into the update folder. Once thats done open up the MFT file and look at the version number. it should be one number ahead of the original patch again in my case my original is 11 and mod patch is 12. once thats done open the game and BOOM everything should be back to normal with all your mods too

I also had this problem. Had played through this with other characters without a problem. Realized after reading up on it, that it could be a new hair mod I had added. Removed that and the problem was gone.

thanks.

This was a HUGE help. I disabled mods using mod manager, of course keep official patch enabled.

****mods I did not disable were:

Long Ponytail

Dimplesition

Eyebrows for Women

Merged file.

Launched game and yes! Im in skyhold!

Saved game. Quit game.

Did another patch with all mods enabled.

Launched game again and all works.

It is perfect.

This is easy to do with mod manager.

Well s#*!, I uninstalled all my mods and ran the scene. Got the feeling its an anti-mod thing (they haven't released a toolkit since 1, the porno mods must have pissed them off) anyway i reinstalled the original patch and deactivated all my mods and it works fine. Will update now that I can save and reactivate my mods.

BioWare does not care what mods you use. They just aren't doing anything to support making/using them.

With the switch to the FB3 engine for DA:I, they're leaving any Toolset up to DICE, who has only said, "Maybe someday..."

Was able to successfully use this method to fix the glitch. My rig uses AMD/ATI so can also confirm it has nothing to do with your GPU brand, it appears likely to be a conflict with mods and the latest patches/DLC. My first run through right after release of game didn't have this issue, but now on my 2nd with all the DLC's, patches and some mods, it sprang up.

Copy & Paste from EA Help Forum: http://answers.ea.com/t5/Dragon-Age-Inquisition/White-Screen-at-Solas-Revelation-Finding-Skyhold/td-p/4332930/highlight/false

THANK YOU! This solution worked for me when none of the others did! Once I got past the transition movies/dialogues to get to Skyhold, I was able to save the game and then restore all my mods and settings back to 'normal' for me and it all worked fine. I SO appreciated everyone's efforts to find a solution for this problem.

#Edit!!!!

I managed to fix it. I downloaded the Dragon Age Inquisition Mod Manager v0.47 from Nexus and merged the patch with nothing, just the official patch. Added the Merged folder to the UPDATE folder inside DAI's main folder and it worked...!!!!

#Edit: Now that the rage is gone, I'll type everything again http://ea.i.lithium.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.png
