Ha ha Lachdonin youre a wanderin Tes Lexicon.

If who wants to be a millionaire was only about Tes lore you would certainly win

Hah, you should speak to MaleyoRan (probably spellbound my that wrong) Mr.Flippers and FireIceWarden. They put me to shame. In fact, Warden figured out the Amaranth and how the dream-cycle works... That takes skill. Or madness.

Or a combination of the two. I'm surprised at how little this part of the lore is ever discussed.

It depends a great deal on the circles you frequent. /r/TESlore has this type of stuff come up on almost a daily basis. The Bethesda Lore Forum has mostly been taken over with nonsense... This site's own lore discussions are mostly Stormcloak-vs-Empire....

I know that feeling. I was especially deep into the Stormcloak vs Empire debate. While I still prefer a certain side, stumbling across the whole CHIM thing made it all incredibly irrelevant.

Expanding on the background and lore though would be a positive thing, I'm sure there's plenty of people interested in the subjects, just lacking the "jump off" points to get such discussions started.

The other problem with some of the lore discussions (like this one for instance) is that the subject matter is too esoteric for the casual player; myself included. Don't get me wrong, I love reading these threads as it gives some valuable insight to the TES universe, but I don't pretend to understand all of it.

My English is none too shabby, but whenever I try to read anything by MK, my brain seems to throw a tantrum. Last time I tried to translate his book on the Magne-Ge I could practically feel my brain tissue boil. Maybe *that's* what keeps many people from delving deeper into TES lore.

Then there's the fact that it has zero impact on the in-game mechanics players deal with.

Exactly!

Edit: Well, the part about it not impacting the game mechanics isn't entirely true: I've encountered a few times where I didn't completely understand what had happened with a quest only to be told that the whole answer was based in out-of-game lore.

I just like to read about and understand the basic concepts like the creations myths from different pantheons or the various realms of the deadra and their spheres of influence.

But when you start delving into the realm of MK I kinda space out and lose interest.

EDIT: random typo

Nope, that's pretty much universal to anyone that reads his work - the real struggle is how much can you figure out from what you do read, before your head implodes.

Yeah, to be honest I don't even think he knows half the time. Ever read the 36 Lessons of Vivec? MK has straight up said that he doesn't even have answers for some of it. The man is kinda like Tesla, it's hard to tell where the genius ends and the crazy starts...

That said, some of what he has put out, once interpreted, vastly impacts both the understanding of the world, and the depth what is going on.

The 7 Fights of alu-something for instance is about Alduin eating tbe world, and the Kalpa cycle, and directly relates to both Oblivion (explaining that Alduin created Dagon) and the plot of Skyrim (preventing Alduin from eating the world prevents the next from being born).

The Magne'ge have become in-Game Canon with ESO, so confusing as they are their still worth the read.

C0DA is also well worth it, for anyone interested in the Dwemer... Though there's a synopsis that's probably easier to read... Spoilers, the Numidium is Dwemeri Hell.

Nu-Mantua Intercept is the basis of most of our knowledge of the Towers, and Love letter explains in no uncertain terms how Mundus was made. The trial of Vivec is also kinda funny...

Other things, like Akavir: Get Out! And Shor, Son of Shor are confusing and problematic... We still aren't sure exactly what they mean, if anything.

By and large, MK is the type of contributor whose works benefit everyone's comprehension of the setting, but who most people are better off ignoring. It's easier to read the interpretations of others with more patience than to read the source material some times.

I do totally dig his idea that Atmora is frozen in time rather than frozen in ice though...
