Shield with 200,000 value???

I have noticed some discussion of the problems concerned with selling expensive items. I have finally progressed enough to have such problems, and I need some assistance.

First of all, I am level 24. I have just found a shield that is valued at 200,000 septims (or whatever the currency is). It is quite a nice item and I will probably use it for quite some time, but it seems obvious that I cannot sell it. This is not to mention the ax that is valued at 50,000 and the various other items that are valued fro 10,000 to 25,000.

It seems strange to be broke (a mere 1500 septims) and to go into a shop with all these items and have to sell one of them for 700 septims just to get some more cash.

Is this Morrowind reality? Or am I missing something? Oh, I know there are various shops with slightly more resources, but are there any with 200,000 worth of resources. Is there some other way to cash items in?

Well, the Mudcrab Merchant has the most money (he's on one of the islands near the Dwemer ruin, forget it's name, but it's near Bal Fell, try looking around the forum for his precise location.)

And there IS a little exploit that you can use to get full price. Let's say you have 20 Daedric Daggers. Sell them to him, 1 by 1, resting 24 hours inbetween to let him replenish his money supply. Then once you've sold them all, buy them back, so he has 200,000 gold. Then sell the shield. Then simply rest 24 hours, and sell the Daedric Daggers back to him, so you still get the money for them.

This is also known as the "Buy Back" method. :P

Mzahnch is the ruin. Like the mud crab it's is in the middle of nowhere! But Switch is right; you can sleep there with all the wonderful (light) Dark Brotherhood armour you keep getting until you've started their quest (if you haveTribunal). Sometimes you'll get attacked in the process and that will give you even more to sell. It is just so BORING! I refer you to my thread entitled What is cheating? Then it's all down to that nasty little creature called a conscience.

I think we are not supposed to sell such an expensive armor and weapons. Especially relics and artifacts which are "unique!". Of cource if you are penniless you can try and do it, but it's waste of time and cheating for me anyway. Instead, just run over several caves and sell all the loot to common merchants, like this I got my 200,000+ "coins". Of cource I sold some stuff to Creeper, but never did I sleep nearby just to get 5,000 more. And I am also level 24 now. B)

Edit: Or just use console and add some cash - not to wait all the way to sell daedric katana or axe. But that will spoil the game.

No, this is known as power playing, and if you swing over to the Cheating thread i thought i made it pretty clear what my views were on that.

Buy back is perfectly legit, just slow. As for not selling unique items (Charon), you have to sell some (three I think) if you want to finish Tribunal. It is a requirement of one part of the main quest. You can then sell most others, each for half its value, in the Museum at Mournhold. Unless you use them, there doesn't seem to be a reason for not selling them but by that time you've probably got more money than you know what to do with anyway!

I know, I called it an "exploit" didn't I? :P I don't really use this much myself, but can be pretty useful for making lots of cash when needed (without your conscience irritating you because you used the console :P).

I agree that the buyback method is not cheating, and I'm a real stickler when it comes to cheating in Morrowind. The buyback method is just seen as a smart entreprenureal venture :)

One thing I don't recommend though is selling those unique items, they might be worth a lot in their value in gold but when you throw the word conscience (like written before) you might then realize that when you complete a quest for someone and get a rather nice artifact they probably did so under the impression that it would stay in your possession.

Unique artifacts in Morrowind (unlike in the terrible 'RPG' D2) are legendary and above all else grant incredible powers (and a wide range of them). Truely RPGing Morrowind is something I try to uphold, and when I get an artifact given as a gift I'm not likely to go running to the scamp to sell it...no I'm likely to go put it in my artifact library.

Things that you should deffinitely sell are any copies of glass, ebony, or daedric weapons or armor that you don't need, and then buyback will get you a lot of septims for the time you spend investing in a merchant.
