Fake Mod Management

I think what you should do is instead of being able to automatically upload stuff, that the mod should have to be approved or something. Or at the very least, find a person to go through the mods every day and delete all the posts and ban anyone who uploads those fake mods where when you look at the desciption it just has S for everything. Cause quite honestly, its a pain for me to go through all the mods and click report problem, fake mod on every single one of them.

Im sure you could find a way to have a thing that records the ipaddress of the uploader and then just ban the IP address to prevent the person from being able to upload anything ever again from the computer in the basement of his parents house.

The "S" problem occurs when the author uploads a mod and then removes it on the same day. Because the file database uses a caching system that only updates once a day deleted mods still show in the listings, but don't actually exist. When they cache is resynched any trace of the mod is removed.

I could probably add a few cleanup queries to the delete method to make sure less instances of deleted mods show in the database.

Sorry for the somewhat off topic question, but a quick visual search of the site and a search function search of the forums revealed nothing.

Where is the mod hosting/registration you are discussing? I don't think my mods has enough traffic to warrent getting the same sort of account as full on gaming sites, but I am interested if gaming source has a special area for mods set up?
