Nexus Server Download Page Problem

For the past 2~3 days, I've had problems with downloading certain files on the TES/FO3 Nexus sites, apparently smaller files that use the 'fs2' address. My apologies if this problem has already been solved, but I browsed through any and all topics tagged "download problem" with none of the problems relating to mine.

I don't know how much this will help, but I made a vid of my issue (sorry that you can't see the mouse-cursor; I used Fraps to capture the vid, and had the mouse-cursor set to 'hidden' in my options):

(You might want to watch the vid on the Youtube site, so you can see it in 1080p; it's impossible to see what's going on if you watch it here)

Problem Description:

I navigate to the download page of the file I want to download, but when I click on the file, the window that pops up that's supposed to give me the choices for the server I want to download the file from never loads. I reset my cookies and made sure that Java and my browsers were up to date. After the problem continued to persist, I reset all of my browser's settings to their default values. Tried again but the problem still persisted.

There's only one thing that I did about a couple days ago, which was when this problem started, but it doesn't make sense why this would be the cause; I installed the latest version of Java: http://www.java.com/en/

I also tried reinstalling Java then tried again; problems persists. (Do I need to downgrade my Java?!)

Basic Information:

-100Mbps T1 internet connection (My internet connection works fine; I actually downloaded the mods I wanted from another site.)

-I use a 'WRT54GS' Linksys router (I reset the router, disconnected the power supply, and even connected the ethernet cable directly to my computer; problem persists.)

-The only download manager I use is the 'IGN DLM', which only works for DLs from the IGN site, only. I've had that DLM since before I DLed mods from the Nexus and I never had any problems before. I even disabled the DLM just to make sure; problem persists.

-I currently live overseas. Although I'm sure my physical location isn't the reason for my problem, just for extra info, my physical location is not in Europe/N. America. But then again, I had no problems DLing files from the Nexus before.

-I tried on both 32-bit and 64-bit Internet Explorer 8, and v3.6.12 Firefox and get the same problem on all browsers.

-I do NOT use a firewall (Disabled).

-I do NOT use any form of anti-spyware, anti-virus, etc. software.

-I've been DLing mods here on the Nexus since I became a member; that's why I became a member actually. Never had problems since a couple days ago.

Like I said, I already downloaded one of the files that I wanted from another site with no problems, but I would like to be able to download files from the Nexus again; most other sites that host the file weren't uploaded by the original author, and if I download a mod, I would rather download it from the original author.

...That, and the Nexus totally rox XD

Is this happening on all files or just small files?

Can you ping the address? i.e. I think small files are served on fs2 so for tesnexus you need to ping fs2.tesnexus.com

Ah, yeah I seem to be able to DL larger files just fine.

"...ping the address?" I'm not quite sure what you mean by that, could you please explain how I could do that?

Thanks

1. Hold he windows key + R on your keyboard, this will bring up the "Run" window

2. Type "cmd" without the quotes, this will bring up the command prompt

3. Type "ping fs2.tesnexus.com" and press enter

This is what should come up:

Pinging fs2.tesnexus.com [173.193.223.140] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 173.193.223.140: bytes=32 time=190ms TTL=46

Reply from 173.193.223.140: bytes=32 time=182ms TTL=50

Reply from 173.193.223.140: bytes=32 time=189ms TTL=46

Reply from 173.193.223.140: bytes=32 time=170ms TTL=50

Ping statistics for 173.193.223.140:

Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

Minimum = 170ms, Maximum = 190ms, Average = 182ms

If it doesn't then there's something blocking the connection between your computer and the server. While still in the command prompt type "tracert fs2.tesnexus.com" and it will give you a full list of all the hops your connection takes to reach the destination server. Copy and paste the results here.

It looks like your trace to fs2 is failing at the hop over from your country to the US. I'm not sure why but I don't think it's an issue on the server's end, but rather with your ISP.

Can you ping fs1, fs3 or fs4.tesnexus.com?

If you can then your best and quickest fix is to simply change the download URL from fs2.tesnexus.com to fs1.tesnexus.com or whatever file server address actually works for you.

THANK YOU!!1!

I ping'd fs1/3/4 and they all worked; manually changed the URL like you suggested and I successfully downloaded the files that I wanted.

Again, thank you; and I learned something new too.
