durbin
Ok since the new patch Ive have not been able to play more than 10 minutes or travel to different areas that require loading. Ive been going nuts over this since than, so I decide to test something, it has made my game play more than 10 minutes(only tested for an hour) and I dont crash when enetering areas that require loading. Oh by the way I have over 81 mods that I play with so I think adding mods my account for some os this too. Ok open up steam and right click on Fallout: NewVegas, click on properties, than local files, click verify integrity of game cache. It will verify all files (dosent take long) and will tell you if it can verify the files. If it can not verify any file it will tell you and redownload them again for you. The second part you dont have to but I recommend you defradmenting your cache files next after that. Doing this has given me faster load times and no 10 minute crashes. I hope this helps a lot of people and if you have problems please feel free to add me to steam and I will help you out as much as you can. My account name is breakerseven and when messaging just tell me its in reference to this post. Have fun playing, Hopefully .
pretzdothack
Okay, just so you know , if you do the verify integrity of your files it will remove a modified .ini file. Such as the ones people have to modify to use texture mods and some other miscellaneous mods. The crashing you were experiencing could be any number of things. Such as the "81 mods" not clashing well together with them since the new patch.

And its not the 81 mods I was running because I use fallout new vegas edit to make them not conflict and also I know its not the mods because it started doing that after last patch. This is not my first rodeo for this kind of thing.
narcnh
Just posted a reply in the Dinky crash thread, but thought I'd mention here that I still have the problem after trying your fix. Thanks, anyway.

RGN07
Mod or no mod, FONV is known to have unsolvable crashes to the present time. The only fixes were the frequency of the crashes. They are still unpredictable. A Bethesda executive admitted that the magnitude of the game (size) makes it difficult for 300 programmers to find this needle of a problem in a haystack of scripting. zebrin
Hey, thanks for finding that! It fixed a crash I had that was a game breaker, since i couldn't access 70% of the damn game. It always crashed whenever I tried to load a certain group of cells. that being New Vegas and the NCRCF. Now that it works I ended up playing for about 6 hours today... Jeeze. good game, markedly improved from fallout 3 as far as writing goes... poor Boone.
Kennible
I'm wondering if it's K-Lite Codec Pack audio program causing the crash coz everytime I crahs back to my desktop, that blue icon appears. For those who have installed k-light codec..
gsmanners
There are many, many things that can cause this game to crash, but for those of you who are having problems with randomly crashing in the wasteland or during a world map transition, I suggest the following: restart your computer. This is the only thing I've noticed that works for me every time, and if I continue trying to play the game, it only crashes within about 10 or 20 minutes anyway.
