Powder gangers in general don't attack on sight even if you are vilified. You can go into their vault even if they hate your guts (vilified) and they will remain passive. You can still do quests for their leaders. The odd berserker "powder ganger", found on the way to Primm, near the prison etc, will attack you no matter your reputation. Doesn't matter if you're liked or vilified. They probably shouldn't have the affiliation but rather function like the gangers in Primm (i.e. no reputation loss from killing them). The only powder gangers in the game whose attack patterns vary with your reputation are the ones in the prison and that is likely scripted, not a game mechanic so to speak.

Its funny because the powder gangers that have attacked me from the begining and wont ever stop are the ones in the prison...at least in my game. its an annoying bug. faction bugs are extremely annoying because they are severely hampering my gameplay due to effecting quests.

Ah..wasn't aware of that. I've only encountered powder gangers near the NCRCF, and I've always killed Cobb. For some reason it still makes me wonder if this was the original intention of the developers or if it is in fact a bug. I wonder because faction armor would have two purposes either way, if it is a bug (vilified factions are supposed to attack on sight) then faction armor is meant to be mostly a disguise, and if it isn't a bug (vilified factions are not supposed to attack on sight) then faction armor is what seems to be the deciding factor in the way you would like factions to react towards you, but then again, if the latter is true, then your personal reputation system is of no real significance except for the snide comments you receive from vilified factions. But mostly it's because I haven't read any real confirmation on this bug, such as reports from people who actually have vilified factions in their game attack them on sight without the use of faction armor or certain followers. I'd love to know that if anyone could share.

As far as i know i am Vilified a lot byt the legion ( i hate them for their crimes on most characters =) ) I cant walk into cottonwood cove without getting shot on sight... if im shunned they wont shoot.... unless the assassins come.... NCR still didnt shoot me (Shunned) And killed those rangers after 3 days.... *shrugs* I got to the fort... (didnt have the mark :3 ) Half of the fort's wrath decends down upon me... Hehe

Yea, Powder Gangers used to attack me even when neutral, but then the dude in the NCRCF says "Don't get too close to our camps..."

My karma bug was such that the game seemed to "forget" my reputation with almost all my factions. Powder Ganger, Legion, and NCR don't show up on my pip boy, as if I never encountered them, and my map markers for those factions have reverted to neutral.

Odd

As far as I know, wearing a disguise changes your rep to neutral for that faction, so you won't be recognized as a villain or hero either way.

ok. now this is getting absolutely ridiculous/unplayable...i just slaughtered several NCR and am now vilified only to be greeting with hospitality at an NCR post. Not only that, I get messages when I kill or steal telling me I "Lost Karma", and I am permanently Very Good. I turned off all my mods and killed about 20 innocent people with constant messages saying I was losing karma and Im still very good. :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

im very close to the point where im just going to stop playing the game because its a joke on so many levels. and i cant find any mods that offer any kind of karma fix...not that its their responsibility. Why is there no fix for this yet from the devs?

The devs are busy making dlc, hehe. I'm also thinking of putting the game down until a fix arrives, even though I really want to play the game. I'm mostly just indecisive as to whether I want to even finish the game/main quest since I want my first playthrough to be actually enjoyable. Then again, I was also thinking of playing the game while wearing ncr faction armor or having boone as a companion so that at least legion will attack me on sight.

  • 1 month later...
So with this new update that came out in December, Im wondering if the "reputation fixes" listed would help with some of these NCR, Powderganger rep problems we're having. I cant seem to find a thread other then what I wrote.
