Question about the new DLC for xbox.

I just read about them releasing a DLC for New Vegas but it's going to be an XBOX exclusive so we won't see it on PC. Which got me to thinking since the PC version is so modifiable wouldn't it be possible to take the resources from the 360 version and package them as a mod for the PC version? If this is possible what would necessarily be different and need to be altered to work for the PC? My thoughts are that very little would actually need to be changed since I imagine the file structure would be similar to the PC version.

Just friendly advice , from what I know of the Terms of Service here that would be heavily frowned upon if not a BANhammer in waiting. Content being transferred from different Bethesda releases is being given a very dark glare from the Admins and Mods for potential legal reasons.

Edit: Actually if you were able to recreate it using nothing but default resources within New Vegas you'd likely be able to do this without incurring modwrath. They've already done it for the Pre-order content in this fashion.

I don't get what you mean by different releases? It's the same game, just a different platform. It would be like converting something that isn't released for the MAC to play on MAC from the PC. Instead it's converting something from the xbox to the PC, basically porting it. Besides I'm just asking if it's theoretically possible to do something like this. Are you saying I can get banned just for talking about this? If so, sorry I didn't know.

No worries , was not trying to be a creep , Marioman ;) Just making sure that you don't get instabanned.

I've seen people (Just in last few weeks) get banned for some (IMHO) very dumb reasons because of the legalities of modding. But the Nexus is just doing what it needs to to protect itself in a litigious time so I don't think any of us can complain too loudly.

PMing one of the mods to make sure that they are kosher with your idea's legality might be an amazingly good idea :) I for one would be fully supportive of it if it could pass the site's TOS and Beth's EULA. Potentially getting shafted out of an expansion would bite , honestly.

just to clarify, while they have not announced the PC (or Ps3) version, that is a timed exclusive. like the DLC with fo3 it should eventually make its way over here.

basically they want it to hit the money maker right in time for christmas

To answer your question, the engine is most like near identical to the PC version, so porting a mod would theoretically be fairly easy. That said, we're still talking about copyrighted and paid for content, so unless you remake it from scratch (using only already available material) it would still be pirating. After all, the DLC creator wouldn't receive any compensation for it, right?

Besides, it's highly likely it'll be released for PC as well.. depending on what MS offered them.
