linx3
If I remember correctly, the 1st two Fallout games you had the ability to turn off the swearing(replaced by stereotypical signs) and gore(it just didn't happen). Why was this feature removed? I understand that this is an M-rated game, but that was great for squeamish people and for kids with squeamish parents. Moraelin
Well, I'm not opposed to it, as long as it's optional. Sure, other people can suit themselves. I'm just not sure exactly what's the advantage in censoring things. I mean, being in a country where blood in games is routinely censored, always made me wonder... if blood makes people do some evil things, dunno, how many 12 year old girls look in the tampon and then run amok? :P

At least once a month, its called P something.Thats right ban all blood everywhere, its evil. :D Now, back on topic. Deactivating the blood shouldnt be hard, some mod á la Gore No More which could be fitted for displaying no gore at all. Language filtering would be harder, as every piece of speech and lines of text must be verified and changed. Probably the option wasnt implemented because you use guns in the game (at least they are more graphical than the 2d games), a parent that doesnt allow blood or swearing wouldnt allow guns also. PurplePigeon
that was great for squeamish people and for kids with squeamish parents.I doubt that FO:NV can be turned into a T-rated game by disabling gore and swearing. As for parents who think it's OK if their child runs around in a post-apocalyptic world, slaughtering people, destroying towns and (potentially) siding with murderous misogynistic slavers as longs as there is no blood and swearing... Maybe this kind of parents established video game censorship in Germany. It could be a useful option but it's not like I miss it in New Vegas. fronzelneekburm
Imho the game is still too violent even without blood. So I would suggest removing all weapons from the game.
bben46
If you take out all of the naughty words, all of the blood, all of the violence, all of the gore, all of the weapons, all of the ... Wait! there's nothing left but some run down scenery and some tame creatures. :whistling: Different people and different countries have differing ideas on what makes a game adult. Some countries still seem to think all computer games are made just for children and want to censor anything that they think is somehow harmful. My own point of view is that this game was not made for children - on purpose. And so children (of any age  ) should not be playing it anyway. Removing whatever it is that you, your parents or your government object to is a noble idea, but a large and difficult undertaking. And what you end up with will not be the same game. However, if this is what you want, I wish you luck in your endeavor. Just remember that whatever patch you come up with should not change the actual game files in any way if you want to post it here on The Nexus. However, a new set of bsa and other files that load after the vanilla files and overwrite the original files will work. (If you are not going to distribute it, you can change anything you want)
frank lee
Curiously I wrote to the company asking if there was a bleep-track/schools version planned. They haven't replied in two weeks. . . . Possibly no-one there can see the monitor or find the keyboard, being as how they must be wading through the offices chest deep in bug reports and complaints. . . . . firsTraveler
Censorship by anyone for any reason is never a good thing.
antonkr
Meh its not like kids don't know or hear swearing.Me being 13 I don't see much people playing New Vegas in my school, but I mean whats the big deal really? I hate how some people say "I shouldn't be hearing swearing." As long as the child was told to even when they hear bad words not to repeat them. (basic rules parents should teach) kids should be okay with a few times hearing a bad word. It isn't even that much in the game. Just like in real life, you hear it sometimes.
