WIP: New Armors

Recommended Posts

Hello again. I'm checking to see if there's any interest in this, and if it's worth my time to wait forever to upload it here as well as on Elric and Unforgotten Realms.

I've been teaching myself to model in Blender, and after long, long hours, I have a fully functional set of armor with a matching shield and sword. These are new meshes with a Crimson Nightshade theme, suitable for a wood elf or other sneaking-around-in-the-bushes character. The greaves are a skirt and kilt. There's a full male set as well as female, for those who like a more fey look. If anybody's interested, I'll put up a link to some screenies.

This is the set that's finished. Tomorrow I'll start on St. Alessia's Rags, which will be rags stained with the glittering/possibly transparent blood of Akatosh. (I'm still experimenting with translucency.) After that I plan a spikier set on a more Goth theme. I'm still trying to modify the flame atronach into armor, but that's stalled due to skeletal parenting problems and an utter inability to find informational resources for the more detailed, complicated, and eminently screw-upable aspects of modeling. These others should go much faster, now that I more or less know what I'm doing.

There is third party software available that allows you to convert to the latest NIF format with Blender, as far as I know.

As people say, new models are very few and far between. If you have an armour mod that uses new meshes, please post it!

Screenies:

The top one is male and the bottom one is female. Again, this is fairly fey armor, it's not "Aargh manly man" armor. (The male elf's face is someone's savegame from this site I've been using as a playtest. That's why he looks so girly. :) )

Unreleased as yet. Want to finish some other armor first so I won't be releasing just one set at a time.

It looks like it could be good, although the relative smallness of the character makes it hard to tell.

Four things:

First, you might want to have day and night screenshots.

Second, front, back, and side shots for both male and female would be nice.

Third, it appears that the male armor may be clipping. If so, you might consider using decorative pauldrons.

Fourth, it appears as if the female is holding one of those big stinky flowers, IIRC, Rafflesia.

Additionally, you might want to consider uploading mini images here, and linking them to full size images on your site. This will decrease bandwidth use for your site, as every load of this thread would no longer download the full image, and, in my opinion, makes the page appear less cluttered.

Given that Rafflesia is a tropical species, it's unlikely it would be found in Tamriel. ;) Though "Corpse Lily Armor" isn't a bad name. The reason for the texture has to do with the impossibility of using the original nightshade texture even as a color tweak. It's too small and it becomes uberlowres when stretched that large.

Thanks for the thing with the minis, I think that's a great idea.
