Two 8.1[8]{53}

Dorothy met the Oracle, with Toto at her side, in a small comfortable chamber where they drank cups of chilled coconut juice, with coconut pulp, and banana cake.

Dorothy spoke with a quietly grave voice. "The major fractions have shrank in number but grown in size as smaller factions have been absorbed or destroyed by terrible fighting. What ever agreements that were held before, have fallen away. There are the many peoples living, the varied unlifen and the vampire undead factions. Your father is even more powerful, and influential, now in the living faction. He is creating new, more terrible, reanimated monsters and other twisted super geniuses are creating, or recreating, some terrible devices. What drives them is fear."

Then she sighed. "The living-dead are getting stronger in phantasmic, plasmatic and phasematic forms. They are poor trapped ghosts and you can make a deal with them if you promise to help them cross to the other side, once the battle is done; all of them have sinned heavily and this would be their repentance."

Then she spoke again, after a long obvious pause, as if reluctant to speak on. "You know of whom I speak of next. Yes, the most ancient beings of these islands most truly known as the Isles of Mist. They, of the rainbow mists, they are arising back to awareness and will not be pleased by what they find after their very long sleep. With them will come their pets, their minions, and their followers. It is hard to say what are worst of the three though 'they' are deadlier than all of such put together."

The Oracle nodded. "Is that why you, as you really are, and Toto are really here?"

Dorothy smiled. "We have many reasons to be here and one is to drink coconut juice, and eat banana cake, with you."

The Oracle smiled!

Two 9.1[9]{54}

Scouts, patrols, fishers and others close to the 'inner shoreline' of Freedom Island saw trails of smoke drifting up to the sky during the more well lit times, even in brighter moonlit nights. There were the muffled sounds of gunfire, of explosions, of the roar of strange creatures and much more. Energies sometimes flashed, sparkled or otherwise appeared in the sky. Sometimes flying creatures could be seen, often battling each other.

Then, as quickly as it had started, the battle on that other island seemed to end. That was Three Lowtower Island where there could be found three great low hulking metallic stone towers.

Gravely, the Oracle spoke of what had happened. The strange undead entities, parachuting from the sky, had fought an alliance of other factions and had won though with heavy losses. She had not just glimpsed the truth with her own abilities but Dorothy had given her some knowledge, albeit with some obvious reluctance.

Three Lowtower Island was the biggest island, and closest island, to Freedom Island. It could also be used as a strong basis of blockading Freedom Island, at least on the surface. Yet not even Dorothy seemed to know if that was the purpose, for taking the island, of the parachute undead. No better factional name had been found for them, as yet.

The damphir triplets, and a platoon of reavers, volunteered to undertake a covert recon mission to Three Lowtower Island. They would do this through the tunnel networks though most of those were unexplored, let alone charted, by the factions; they also had threats of their own, some having very dark reputations.

Two 10.1[10]{55}

Who would have thought it possible but then again, considering what had happened so far it was considered to be very possible by most.

The other undead came parachuting from the sky with more advanced equipment. There were fewer of them, they were different being more human like and they fought the greater number of mech-zombies, as they had come to be known, along with their armoured vampire lords.

The spectres landed in a large group on Freedom Island. They took gear from the metallic canisters coming from the sky. They were quick to seek to be part of the United Alliance. At first the spectres were wary of speaking too much of their true nature except that they were the result of a scientific attempt to make people immune from undeath; instead of an effective vaccine, the results were the spectres who fought for humanity on other worlds.

Dorothy vouched for them and that was good enough for the Oracle. They stood watching spectres drifting down from the sky using controllable paraplanes instead of more basic parachutes. There were at least a thousand of them and with them came parachuted canisters and even machines. It was a well carried out operation. It was an impressive sight

The United Alliance people were pleased by the help but the British Imperials, except the BISSA, were not pleased. The Watchguardia observed the situation carefully.

By this time the damphir triplets, and reaver platoon with them, were well into dangerous territory. They headed through a bizarre network of underground temple settlements, long ago abandoned and avoided by local peoples, with a dark feeling to them. Ugly statues, buildings carved out of rock, temple alters with obvious sacrificial alters for humanoids, tombs and dry fountains were but some of the many features in the dank darkness of the place. They came close to a thick metal door of a temple vault and something, as if 'sensing' their presence, began to smash against the door.

Zero 17.1[17]{56}

The League of Nations became troubled by the increase of factional in fighting. A very powerful, wealthy, influential and corrupt faction wanted to set up a colony to exploit resources found in the Forbidden Zone. That is an area far older in its infamy, and enforced isolation, than the former Zaztek Empire. The Progressive Truth Faction also wanted an expedition sent to territories of the former Zaztek Empire to start exploiting resources there. Both moves were easily crushed and the PTF was damaged in the brutal backlash driven by anger at its foolish greed.

The Zaztek Continent remained out of bounds and the only expeditions being planned were military ones. Newer types of assets were added to the League of Nations Defence Taskforce in charge of blockading the terrible continent. They were faster moving battleships and other warships of the seas, new type aircraft-carriers, new types of liftergas war-airships, enclosed metallic biplanes, electromechanical power armour, autocannons, laser-projectors, new logistics airships, bigger improved service-support ships and a good deal else. The same kinds of resources were being added to other UNDF Taskforces and to various national defence forces.

Rationing was now an international fact though some nations had heavier rationing than others. A few weaker, poorer, nations became League of Nation Protectorates for they could not protect themselves.

LG Peacekeepers were increasingly active in some areas of increasing trouble. The Peacekeepers were 'paramilitary forces' being somewhere between the League of Nations Defence Taskforces and the League of Nations Police Force.

Only a few had linked increasing unrest, focused in the Middle East, Africa and South America, directly with the comet-projectiles, the Zazteks and other such factors.

The Extraordinary League of Champions did so along with the British Imperial Special Security Agency and other elite factions. They were not the only ones.

Two 11.1[11]{56}

Field-Marshal Henry Adler arrived at the Utopian Isles (Islands of Mist) having come through the great ancient alien tower that seemed to exist in two places at once. The one super-airship, and five other large airships, were escorted by airboats.

The flying vessels escorted sea going vessels; there were three troopships, two freighters, one aircraft-carrier, two destroyers, two frigates, one pocket-battleship, five naval service support ships, and a light cruiser. There were also four other ships that were not officially recorded.

While everything was in good condition, none of it was very new except the light cruiser and three of the airships (not the super-airship). The super-airship was an experimental prototype that had proven a failure until much reworking had made it a good vessel to work with.

It was a large taskforce and many had complained it was too large to send on an unsure mission. Adler was concerned it would not be enough and was not the only one.

Upon arrival Adler took charge of general British Imperial Forces at Freedom Island. The Marshal, who had been in charge, had no choice in the matter though he belonged to a faction of officers that thought little of Adler and his ways.

Soon he was secretly linking up with the spectres. They were allies of his true people and he had asked that the special undead entities be sent to the islands through the 'transmato clouds'. The transmato clouds were not truly clouds at all and, in this case, had been there already for the spectres to take advantage of. Question was who, what, had brought the transmato clouds there. Was it the armoured vampires and their crude mech-zombies? He had strong doubts it was though such forces might be the minions, or puppets, of others who had brought forth the bizarre transdimensional 'clouds'.

Zero 18.1[18]{57}

Great metallic stone 'Skytowers', as they were soon being called, rose out of the ground near large cities through out the 'Known Regulated World' that did not include the Zaztek Continent, the Forbidden Zone or other areas of the home world. The first one rose fairly close to the city of London. Then they began to rise near Washington DC, Paris, Peking, Tokyo, CapeTown, Sydney, and others but not too many others.

The oddest thing about this event was the relative calm that people met it with. Some even commented on this phenomena on an international basis. That is they spoke of both the 'amazing' event and the lack of 'amazement' seemingly experienced by most people as if they were under some kind of subtle, powerful, influence.

There were exceptions, important ones, some being more famous-infamous than others. There were the Extraordinary League of Champions, the more exotic members of the BISSA and others including those belonging to some very dark international factions along with multiple factions not of that world.

Two 12.1[12]{58}

The great, powerful, unique submarine came into the waters of the 'Utopian Isles' by means mysterious to those aboard. It was the SS Nautilus as captained by Nemo himself, as 'manned' by family, followers, friends and minions. Only massive experimental submarine ships, of three nations, out sized it but it easily out performed all of them.

Captain Nemo attempted to make direct contact with the Extraordinary League of Champions main base in London but failed to do so despite his having access to some very impressive communications technologies. What the submarine's hardware was able to tell the crew was that the beautifully graceful vessel was, somehow, on the edge of home world reality. Or so it seemed to be. They were both on, and not on, the home world at the same time.

If most of those in the submarine had not been so experienced with the weird, and wondrous, they might have been shocked. Then there were some very special guests on board who acted as if they had expected that the submarine would end up there; they had only spoken to Nemo of such matters and he had only done so to a very few.

Then the submarine made contact with the Oracle!

Two 13.1[13]{59}

Quinn, Katrina and Salina led the platoon of reavers through the grimness of a great underground temple-city complex. The statues were almost normal, making the distortions seem somehow worse. Glistening moss substance grew across the floor, in area, being built up in mounds in places. Clean skeletal remains dotted the place, glistening as if covered with some kind of almost totally transparent substance. There was a feel of that place of ancient horror.

There skulls, skeletons, were a mixture of human, animan and other others that the expeditionary team could not identify. The way they were scattered, the damage done to the bones, indicated that they hated died with great violence.

Then they found it, somehow aloof from the temple-city, removed from it and its purpose, being a metallic stone alcove of a gate to other such gates. There were alcoves with dispensers and other useful devices.

They were still there when the platoon of spectres showed up but, despite suspicions of the reavers, they were soon working together thanks to both forces being part of the United Alliance. The special undead spectres moved as quickly, as gracefully smooth, as did the exotic damphir triplets and the exotic damphir reavers.

They were all soon to be grateful for being able to increase the size, and fire power, of the expeditionary force.

Yet, for the moment, they took advantage of the ancient alien dispensers to obtain food-drink and other goods-services. This meant they could consume resources while stocking up on those they carried with them. None of them liked the 'feel' of that place, not even the spectres, who could detect an ancient, malignant, undeathly presence there.

Zero 19.1[19]{60}

The League of Nations Aerospace Agency atomic rocketship, the LNASA Lunar Pathfinder, attempted to make radio contact with the unknown military forces moving across the Lunar Surface. After some effort they picked up radio communications in an 'English' dialect, an English language derivative with some noted changes. The messages seemed to be coded in case they were picked up.

After some listening in, further communications attempts were made.

After a short time came a wary response from a high ranking officer of some kind, a 'FlagMarshal' as she called herself. So began careful negotiations between the League of Nations and the Scientific Utopian Empire. The FlagMarshal was a mixture of politician and military officer along with a 'social scientist'.

It was soon evident that the Scientific Utopian Empire, the SUE, was a most peculiar form of civilisation with a quasireligious worship of what was considered 'true science' and 'utopian ideals'. It was also soon evident that the SUE folk considered the people of Terra (the Earth) to be the odd ones though they appreciated the science, and technologies, of Terra which was more advanced than there own in a few ways. Except that not all of Terra enjoyed such advanced technologies, much of it being far more primitive. This was partly due to the ongoing results of the Great War.

The large military force had captured some Terran remotes and wanted to gain more such machines to back engineer. Already their scientists, engineers and other experts were impressed by what they had found. Yet they denied capturing all of the Terran machines that had vanished.

They were also doing a sweep against dangerous enemies of the Scientific Utopian Imperials, or Utopian Imperials. They admitted to having their homelands as Craterlands but not how many or which ones.
