MidbossVyers
Before officially becoming a vampire, I wanted to see what it would be like, so I went to the Vampire room of the Testing Hall, activated vampirism, and fed on "Vamp Chow" to lower the vampirism down to 25%. To my surprise, my character actually didn't look that different from normal, so I was like, oh, I might just try to be a vampire in the actual game. Then I checked out my character's eyes, normally, they're red, so I thought that becoming a vampire wouldn't make much of a difference (red to red, no difference). But when I checked my character's eyes, the eye whites were turned black, and her red eyes became whitish silver (which happens to be my character's hair color, but that may just be a coincidence). First, I thought it might be Ren's Beauty Pack, but when I checked that there was nothing on it saying anything about vampires, and none of my other mods have anything to do with vampires. When I checked YouTube, I found that some versions of Oblivion vampires, regardless of vampirism level, have red, but otherwise, normal eyes, while others have that inverse color scheme I just described. What's affecting that? How do I change it so vampires just have red eyes, and not inverse?
majikmonkee
Never heard of that myself. My dark elf got normal eyes but with the red part turned pink which I think is normal. I don't have any beauty mods though.
MidbossVyers
Well, red to pink is fine for me too, but I got red to white after vampirism. My character is also an elf (not dark elf, though). Though even vanilla vampires, such as Vicente and Count Hassildor, have the inverse eye scheme. Though instead of white, their pupil color seems to be their mortal eye color, just glowing. It never really mattered to me then because I didn't care to be a vampire at the time, but now, after all other quests are done...For example, Vicente's eyes here is what I have: As opposed to here, which is what I assume you have: Also, it may just be a imagination, but why does my character seem to have fairer skin when normal, as opposed to being a vampire? majikmonkee
You've got me. I have the version shown below the first, you are correct. Well, did that is. I had to turn him into vampire dust.
MidbossVyers
Actually about that, when vampires die in this game (like in Bram Stoker's Dracula), they leave solid corpses. It's just that they have an item drop called vampire dust, but I digress. Does anyone, besides me, has the upper eye color scheme? SavageArtistry
If any mod adds a file named "eyevampire.dds" to your Data\Textures\Characters\Eyes folder, then it alters the vampire eye texture. If you want to go back to pink vanilla eyes then just delete it as well as any with the same name and _n or _g tacked on the end of the file name. Your video is interesting. At first I thought a modder recorded himself saying Vicente's dialogue to replace it, but the more I listen the more it sounds like the guy who voices all the Imperial males. I didn't know he recorded that as well. Imagine how much space could be saved on an installation if the developers cleaned out all the extra stuff that wasn't used. MidbossVyers
What? You want to make a cleanup mod, as well?
majikmonkee
I think the normal Vicente voice suits him better. And I know about the solid vampire corpse thing, I'm an old geezer who read that novel. It was just a figure of speech. :-)
SavageArtistry
What? You want to make a cleanup mod, as well? http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif No, it was just a remark. Relax, I was only mulling over in my mind how much space could be saved if unused data was purged by game developers instead of being locked away. (and I said developers not modders) Edited November 24, 2010 by SavageArtistry

(and I said developers not modders) Yeah, it's common for developers too. Usually, when developers do it, they refer to the left over material as "easter eggs" or "bonus content". I'm an old school Wolfenstein 3D and Duke Nuke'em modder, and I was guilty of leaving unused enemies, textures, sound files, and all other manner of content in my exe files by the time I finished. The original Wolf3D had 60+ levels and one of my earlier mods, I changed ten of them and left the remaining 50+ in there unchanged but inaccessible. I imagine developing a game the size of Oblivion, it's possible they simply forgot some of that stuff was still in there before release.
