Considering "Tears of the Fiend"

Lately, I've been devouring mods at an alarming rate, constantly in search of the next big adventure...all I can say is thank goodness I'm not playing the game on the console, I'd have run out of content ages ago. Right now, I'm scoping a variety of different mods, trying to decide on my next undertaking. I have to be careful, though, because I'm the sort of person who believes in committing to whatever I begin, so if it's a stinker, I still have to see it through to the bitter end.

 

My absolute favorite mod at this point, for reasons I can and at the same time cannot define is "Heart of the Dead". It's a great exploration/companion mod, and both aspects were done well imho. I just finished "Ruined Tale's Tail", and I think it's definitely a close second for me favorite wise. I like mods where I'm not so focused on just getting to the end, but where I'm enjoying the ride as well, and both of the aforementioned mods did that for me.

 

I've seen "Tears of the Fiend" suggested a few times, even checked out some user comments and the official info for it on the sites where it's posted, but I'm curious if anyone else who's played the mods I mentioned above can tell me if I can expect a similar experience from TOtF. Obviously I know it's impossible to say for sure, but give me your best guess...

I won't be of too much help since I haven't played the other mods you have listed there, but TotF is pretty awesome. The writing alone is worth downloading, I think. The only problem I have is that the 'dream' scenes are really hard to see because of the double screen effect.

Heart of the Dead has blurry dream segments too but it enhances the affect. I liked HOD better than any of Vanilla Oblivion, and I'm very picky. You should try it, the Nexus download page for it doesn't do it justice, probably to avoid spoiling the story. It's epic.

Well if you liked Ruined Tails Tale I guess you'd like Tears of the Fiend as well. Since was created by the same person. I played both mods you mentioned and also played Tears of the Fiend and also enjoyed it.

Thanks. That's the sort of endorsement I was looking for. Sounds like we have similar taste in mods. I didn't. Even notice Ruin was by the same author as Tears.
