BlueSteelRanger
Salutations, nexus! I've been a bit quiet of late due to several things, two of which are or were:1. Replacing my computer (Which is finally done now, yay!)2. Paying my own, if paltry, respects to the late great Leonard Nimoy. (Oh, I admit it. I'm still weeping over his passing. If you don't want to cry the Mississippi River, avoid reading the eulogy published.) So anyway...I'll be able to get back onto my House project, but I've got that on hold for a minute while I learn my new system (an i5, which is working very well!)...and this idea came to me. I know Star Trek Online did this, and no, I'm not trying to rip anyone off. I did however, like what they did.To honour Mr. Nimoy, they erected two permanent memorial statues in-game. I'm wondering if maybe, something similar might be feasible here in Skyrim. Would it be "lore friendly"? Perhaps -- there are excellent Race and Character Creation mods out there (Such as the superb RaceMenu, which allows for an extreme or subtle amount of change) and under the Elven set, it could probably fly. This is merely me, one player, and one idea in the sea of thousands of tributes and memorials that have come into existence over the past weeks, and they keep coming in. Drawings. Songs. Stories. Poetry. Causes taken up in his name. Name it, it's probably been done.I don't suggest this on a whim or "for glory" -- this isn't for me. It's for him, in recognition of the actor, the poet, the director, the man, that has left such an indelible mark upon this world. Thoughts? --BlueSteelRanger
mellophonist
To be blunt there has been alot of "dedication" mods as of late.... However I am a huge treky so I'll let this one slide >_< As of terms in "Lore friendliness" I believe it can be accomplished although it would be more of an Easter Egg rather then a full dedication. Now I'm going to be honest, I'm not a very good modder. I only do the easy stuff, I have a menu replacer and I'm currently working on a follower mod (Check this link if you wanna see this http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2691659-adding-followers-using-the-familiar-faces-mod-advice-and-future-alpha-testers/ Sorry I did a plug on your thread :P) However hopefully someone will pick this thread up because I think I have a pretty good idea as to how to make this fit in the Skyrim landscape. So imagine if you will, you have just arrived at the Deep Folk crossing, a mysterious monument left behind by the ancient Dwemer. On the main pedestal you see a very large statue made out of Dwemer Corundum, it has seen some weathering and some moss has covered some of the statue. It is a dwemer elf in the typical armor you would expect with a tiny variance... on closer inspection the helmet that is usually closed faced is shown to be open and instead covers the face in glass. the face you see (will be as close to Leonard Nimoy as close as possible.) is that of a dwemer, no one has ever seen the true face of a dwemer until this instance. Trying to find out who this influential dwemer was your eyes gave down towards the base of the statue, sweeping away some of the moss you reveal a plaque made out of the same material as the myterious shard located in front of the statue (obviously Atherium :P) it is worn a little and there is scratches on the metal but it is still legible. It reads... "This is in tribute to the greatest of all the Dwemer Scientist, Leonard Nimoy. He was the founder and creator of the Atherium Forge. But more importantly he pushed the bounds of our understanding of our cosmos and our place in it. He boldly went where no Dwemer had gone before taking his destruction spell powered vehicle up into the heavens. We hope that one day he will return to us and fill us with his wisdom of the great beyond, but until then as in his final words Live long and prosper..." Hope this is something along the lines you were looking for! I think it would be a cool small addition to the game to honor one of the most influential people in not only my life, but I'm sure many others. BlueSteelRanger
Salutations! Heh, I know there are a lot of dedications out there -- I've run across a slew of them myself, though I haven't seen many Skyrim-related things, so I might get curious and take a peek. Actually, yes, something indeed along those lines. Subtle, lore-friendly, simple yet not so down-played that it's missed or so over-the-top that it breaks lore (or is blatantly out of place). I'm not great at all with modding. I'm just getting the hang of putting structures together, so meshing and texturing is something that's far out of my league right now. This idea though, is perfect. For Skyrim. For him. :)
mellophonist
Haha thanks, hopefully someone with some simple meshing skills will take this up!
