justifiedjt90
Hello guys!I've installed Oblivion now and for some reason i get CTD when i try to run it.Notice that is the vanilla game with nothing to it,no patches,no mods,nothing...and it simply doesn't work.I tried everything possible but I just can't get it working :wallbash: .This is quite frustrating because is like the 10th time that I play this game :wallbash: .I think that it may be something wrong with my PC but I don't know what it is  .If any of you have a clue on what's wrong please help me!Thank you! bben46
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end; then stop. ~Lewis Carrol, Alice in Wonderland In this case, the beginning is where you install the game. The best place is NOT the default location (unless you have Win XP) as that allows Vista and Win7 UAC to block mods and other programs.Recommended: C:\Games\Oblivion If you need it, Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexushttp://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=240 It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice. Now be sure you have the latest patch as it is needed for many modsLook in the lower left corner when you start the game for your version. The latest patch is v1.2.0146Go here for patches: http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm Next, OBSE is required for many mods also, Get the latest version here: http://obse.silverlock.org/ And the utility programs, get the latest versions.BOSS: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20516OBMM: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2097Wrye Bash: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368 Don't make the noob mistake of installing a mass of mods all at once and expecting them, to just work. The time you think you save will be more than lost in troubleshooting.Install a few at a time and test - make sure they are working before adding more to the list. And, a troubleshooting tool for when you have a wacky problem and need to make sure it really is a mod causing it: Bben's Oblivion Revert to Vanilla gamehttp://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=340 And of course, If you have a pirated version, It's a good probability that is your problem. VictoriaG
Try patching to the latest version and check your graphics drivers. Also if on vista/win7 do not install to the default programs directory.
Hickory
Check your Oblivon user folder -- you will find it at \Documents\My Games\Oblivion\. Ensure that you have an Oblivion.ini and a 'Saves' folder inside. If you do not, copy Oblivion_default.ini from your \Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\ folder and paste it into your \Documents\My Games\Oblivion\ folder and rename it to oblivion.ini. Create a 'saves' folder and then restart the game from the launcher (so that your hardware is re-detected). Installing outside of the protected 'Program Files' folder structure, as VictoriaG suggests, is virtually a must for Oblivion in Win7\Vista. Hickory
now I got another problem :wallbash: ,I don't hear any music ingame, I hear anything else but music none.If any of you have a clue why I can't hear the music please help me!Thanks Well, the obvious place to start is on the Oblivion main title screen: Options \ Audio. Check your master volume and music volume. If that is not the issue then, again, you should delete your oblivion.ini and run the game from the launcher so that your hardware gets detected.
