BlaCkBlitZ
Exactly what is the mod limit for new vegas before my game starts screwing up?! I'm at about 150-170+ and I'm having trouble finding why my game is suddenly screwing up.... I can't open boxes, crates and footlockers they only appear when I load another cell/door. Guns would go silent, certain characters have invisible bodies and not to mention blood becomes square and microsoft paint red.

The theoretical limit is 256 (minus 00 is the main esm and FF is reserved, so its 254). The practical limit is much less and i've seen posts that things start to go off the rails around 140. That's a count of actual plugins - esp/esm - don't count those that are just mesh/texture replacers.

I'm getting either a "NVSE Version Error" pop up constantly appearing even after I pressed ok.After playing awhile outdoors, things just screw up like guns having no sounds at all, certain textures go haywire like modded guns or invisible bodies and/or large big red boxes on modded stuff. It's really pissing me off because once all of these appear, I can't seem to even press ESC to quit or open inventories in crates. Was hoping for a resolution, I even posted in mod trouleshooting, but no one seems to be even viewing it. Would it be resolved if I mashed like 10 esps together to make 1, so technically I can bring down my 154 mods to maybe 90.... I don't see the tool for new vegas's esps... Daynox
Different people have different problems depending on how many mods they are running, as of this post i have i think around 135 running with absolutly no problems. no slow downs...anything. When i install a new mod..i go through the file structure and make sure that its not going to overright anything from a previous mod...a sound, texture mesh... but if something overrights a script in a mod or whatever then you got problems...suddenly not being able to open stuff (E), wierd actor behavior or whatever... but as for the Mod limit...like others have stated its around 255 including main files. Which im sure ill hit as the new mods come out
BlaCkBlitZ
I'm pretty darn sure my mods are not overridin' each other. Even if they do, they are claimed compatible by mod authors. Plus load order for me seems okay... It's only the inventory, sound and texture thing... Oh and the nvse error.
rowtjack07
It realy does depend, I have over 200 mods active with only one small problem, hair clipping, which is just a small graphical problem that doesn't appear to be caused by a mod (I can tell because i deactivated all my mods and still had the problem) its just luck and general computer skills and knowledge realy. Steel915
The mod limit might explain my current issue - im trying to install WMX but as far as im aware there are no issues, but i still keep getting a CTD, not on start up but on the loading screen
donta1979
When you start running issues, and you disable all mods and game is still messing up its that time sadly to do a defrag, os&app/game reinstall, or just a game uninstall/reinstall. Also depends on hardware specs as well on what your pc can handle, with what graphics settings are on and what not. TheStrictNein
Download and install this: http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/39655/?, then carefully read the instructions for merging mods. Then, go through your load order and merge together any small mods, which will save you a lot of plugins.
