Wild Wasteland

wild wasteland has effects on the game, though some may say that not enough

i can give you a few examples:

if you go to the Field's shack (north-east part of the map, just before Nellis AFB), inside the shack you will find the unique BB gun

but if you have the perk, you won't find it there

however, if you talk to Rex about a kid falling down a well, you will now have a well there, in which you will find the gun

but this is a rather useless part

for the best effect that i know of

in the northern most part of the map, north of Horrowitz farm (or Horrowitz something) you will usually find three enemies, and one carrying a unique energy weapon (can't really remember what type of enemies, or which weapon)

but if you have the Wild Wasteland trait, you will instead find 3 aliens there, and the Captain (you will know it is him by him name, and him being stronger) is carrying the Alien Blaster, which is probably the strongest weapon in the entire game

he will have the only alien ammo you can find in the game, but a pistol with 100 damage, and 100% critical hit is more than what you will ever need (seen this taking down the Legendary Deathclaw, which is probably the strongest creature in the game, in about 2 or 3 hits!!!)

it has other effects, some that i know of, others that i don't

also, it allows you to choose a perk, i think it's called Wild Gambler or something like this

this perk has lots of effects on the game, but it can work both ways (like loosing half your money, having all your body crippled and loosing half of your life, and such)

a really cool perk, but very dangerous for the user

hope this answers you (and sorry for the long answer)

Iv noticed 2 things so far and im not even out of goodsprings with it yet.

One is a broken down fridge with a skeleton and a hat in it next to the road a little east of good springs (im told its a Indiana Jones refrance where he survives a nuke by getting in a led lined fridge)

and the second is at goodspring's water pipes place where that npc asks you to save his daughter by clearing out some gekos, when to get to the top theres a bunch of colorful balls up there when theres normaly not.

from what I understand theres several little changes like that all over the place. Most of which just to add some flair to the game and make your second run through not as borring as the first.

Also what assassin is talking about with the aliens, The normal enemys are some mercs with a uniqe Guass rifle (YCS/186), but with the wild perc there replaced with some Gray aliens and a ship foating not-so-high above. You can either get the uniqe Gauss rifle OR the alien blaster, not both. This is probably one of the biggest changes due to the weapons actualy being worth the touble to get.

My brother said he found some named skeletons at the burnt down town thats not normaly there in normal play. There probably a easter egg for somthing, Fallout loves there easter eggs.

So ya, keep your eyes open, there all around you, just normal minor things.

you know, i actually forgot about those things you mentioned

i did find the fridge, and the colored balls at that spot, and i never even realized it was due to Wild Wasteland

and i can also confirm about the skeletons in Nipton

From the Wikia site:

If you have the Wild Wasteland trait and look around in front of a destroyed building near the eastern entrance of the town, you can find the charred skeletal remains of two people named, respectively, Owen and Beru. This is a reference to a famous scene from "Star Wars," in which Luke Skywalker returns home to find that his uncle and aunt of the same names have been incinerated in a similar fashion by Storm Troopers.

and right after finding that part, i found the page that lists the changes that people have found

you can see all the effect of Wild Wasteland

Just as curiosity, the named burned skeletons are Owen and Beru (which any Star Wars geek will get quickly...), that trait is indeed wild and weird... doing the quest that asks for a sex programmed robot (fisto) the courier is attacked by three angry old ladies as soon leaving the facility, they claim exclusive robot's ownership and can't be talked off... and many, many other weird things.

It doesn't do nearly as much as it should, that should be said, It's a way of enabling events that are funny or weird, making the game more like the Classic Fallouts (Fo1, Fo2, FoTactics) which were full of parodies and sarcastic events and encounters, most of Fallout it based on parodies of other things, such as hubologist (scientologist joke).

There are many modders and players either trying to add more content to this perk or suggesting ideas for it.

My Megathrad over things like this. (Silly/Fun)

I believe the first 1 and 2 of the fallout series had a loose base on the Mad Max movies right?

It is/was, the dead giveaway (besides the obvious) is dogmeat, which is the name of the dog in the movie, however a lot of other parts of fallout are parodies of (well they were modern back then) things, or obvious ones, like Enclave = Nazis, Hubolgist = Scientologists, Bridge of Death = Month Python's Holy Grail, etc. The whole game was pretty sarcastic and non-serious as a whole. And it was wonderful, thats one reason why Classic fallout players like New Vegas more than Fo3 even with its lack of content its more like Fo2 in particular.
