Oblivion Reborn (online/multiplayer)

I keep seeing these vids on youtube about an oblivion online/multiplayer mod.

Now did this actually ever happen, is it some nerd spreading his RAT server, is it complete bull****???

There is a mod to do this (search for Oblivion Reborn from Qwerty Games) but I have heard that it's either unfinished or unstable. This particular video just looks like someone recorded a couple of characters spazzing on the screen though. It's not a very good advertisement. :tongue:

I've followed the multiplayer attempts since 2006 and can confirm that they work, albeit with limited function. There was also MultiTES4 and OblivionOnline; Oblivion Reborn being made by a previous member of OblivionOnline. The team involved with Oblivion Reborn (QWERTY Games) are also working on another game (MMO last time I checked) and it's very unlikely that Oblivion Reborn will see any further development. Too bad, a good coop play or even arena matches would have been very fun.

Yes this actually is being done. I was with Qwerty-games for a short time. It is unstable somewhat, buggy, etc. I think its still in the works though. here's the site if you want to check it out yourself.

I would have just settled for an arena multiplayer component, they missed the boat there I think...

At the time I was eager and wanted like 2-3 friends to adventure with me instead of companions (<3 CM Partners) but wanted to talk to also. We're always making each other laugh during D&D night, so I wanted to do it virtually.

I would have loved a game in the vein of Champions of Norrath or Diablo just done as a FPS with shareable main quests but random type dungeons and exploration.

I wouldn't think Oblivion multiplayer would be a good idea unless it was only played with your friends, otherwise, if theres thousands of oblivion players, how are they all going to use the 8 houses?! Or, they'll end up stealing your crap.

In it's existing state, it's totally not multiplayer friendly, you'd have to redo everything.

My thoughts exactly, like I said, I wouldn't mind just chilling with friends in game. And make the server mod compatible. Make it really interesting that way.
