I can't update to v1.7

I don't use any no-dvd patch, the game can't start without the disk and this annoys me sometimes (that is why I keep the disc inside my computer).

And no, I have only 1 fallout install. And I said in the previous comments it didn't patch even on a fresh install. My current version is 1.0.0.12 .

L.E:The game doesn't launch itself or run instantly because I use Panda USB Vaccine.

I will tell you what i had to do to patch my game to 1.7. I had a heck of a time figuring out why it seemed to fully complete but didn't actually finish. For me as soon as the patch finished it tried loading fallout.exe for some reason at the end, and it can't very well alter the exe while its in use. I have no idea why it tries loading the game at the end but i wasn't the only did it did this to by any means. After hunting around the net for a while this is what I was told.

Have task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) open the whole time. Go to the Processes tab in task manager and get a good look at everything running there. When you run the patch, near the end a new process called fallout.exe will show up an there and you have to click it and end the task in about 1 to 2 seconds so the patch can finish up and complete. I have no idea why this ridiculous run around is needed as I had the latest patch straight from Bethesda and a fresh legitimate install of the game, but this is the Only thing that worked for me.

The only way I new it actually Had actually finished and updated Fallout.exe was to navigate to my fallout directory, right click fallout.exe, and click properties there. In the properties there is a tab called version, where you can check whether it failed and is still 1.00 something or succeeded and is 1.7

Not sure if that method will work for you but it was the only way I could make the current crappy 1.7 patch actually finish. If any of this is unclear then speak up and I'll try to clarify it. This was easily the most frustrating game to patch that I've played recently, but well worth it once you get it working.

Is there a

  •
  • PEGI label ( -> probably UK-Patch, but could be Austrian, Spanish, Italian, French as well)
  • a BBFC sign (-> UK Patch)
  • or the ESRB rating (American Patch)?

on the box?

One Bethesda game - think it was FO3

went entirely bonkers

someone managed to ship a batch of US disks to Australia

{Instead of the UK disks}

so if you know for certain

and it doesn't work

try the other English patch

The box cover is in romanian and has the pegi simbols. But when I was looking in the properties of Fallout3 it said at Version/Language English (United States). But when I was installing the game, it prompted me to select the language. It was Polish or English (UK). So I don't know which update should I try from now on.

I have tried about 4-5 times to install English (UK) and about 3 times English (US). Now I will try finding polish update.

PS: Maybe this is from the US update. And on the box it states <<Not for Supply in the U.K.>>

US version never comes with any alternate languages

your source is questionable.

let's clarify --- where you bought the game --- they are a questionable source

I belive there was a polish version, which caused a lot of problems, since it does / did not support mods.

The publisher did not include GfWL and it apparently had some cuts and another exe.

FOSE does not support:

Polish DVD version of Fallout 3 (it uses SafeDisc copy protection on Fallout3.exe)

^^^^^^^^^^ This is what stands on the FOSE website.

So there should be a polish patch.

If you are lucky, the mod problem has been solved.

Hehe, found it

Forget everything about mods, GfWL was the problem. :sweat:

Big kudos to you :D. So this is why I can't use LIVE? And what does live do? And how can I install a newer update then? Or I can't install any updates?

LE:Then will it be possible for me to use FOSE?
