ub3rman123
I always preferred stone with less contrast.. Made it more different from the other 4 types of stone.
KDStudios
Yeah it will look more weathered. This is REALLY EARLY work. So far a lot of it is concept and template for final textures. He will update it eventually, whether to 1.8 or to wait for after MineCon.It will come.I may add less ocntrast to the cobblestone but the thing is... It's meant to be a world that's faced the apocalypse... not a nice looking cobblestone :P Here's a few more concept screenshots. http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/3139/20111031102403.pngThis is early work, half the textures in that image will not be there in the final pack.http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/5488/20111031102426.pngIf you look closely you can see that is the grass texture. That is for when you find "Oasis" but to still look tragic.http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/2412/20111031102635.pngVault? :D Not happy with the "cracked" texture so I'll be changing that.http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/8801/20111031102857.pngOres, lava, caves and Vault :Dhttp://img84.imageshack.us/img84/5480/20111031103032.pngMore Vault :D
ziitch
KDS, I don't know how realistic you are trying to be but you might want to rethink your ores a bit. You don't find chunks of pure iron and coal in the ground like that... Here's some tips on how to improve the individuality of each one. Coal - It's more or less found in thick, stacked layers. It just gets chipped off in chunks. Iron - Look up mangetite, hematite and limonite. These are the three major sources of iron. Gold - It's mostly found as is, in veins. So it's mostly native gold that you would be seeing. Diamond - Look at kimberlite. Redstone - Well, you can make this one up, but I think it's fitting that you find it in crystallic form. Lapis Lazuli - Funny part about this is that in the original tileset, the crafted block is what it basically looks like when found in natural form. So that should give you an idea of what to do... EDIT: Here's my villager retexture concept in action: http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/7421/20111031131251.png As you can see, with their current design I think they look better as birdmen. And before you ask, yes that's a tileset that I did, but no I probably won't complete it... Edited October 31, 2011 by ziitch
KDStudios
Oh... It's not a realism texture pack though o_O haha.Although I'll take those ideas on board for my actual realism pack though, thanks :) Your concepts are... interesting! o_OBirdmen. That's awesome :P You've inadvertently inspired me to retexture villagers into starfleet officers. Because that will be funny. Ps. Pssst... Add an alpha channel, your grass and glass makes me cringe :P Edited October 31, 2011 by KDStudios
ziitch
I still think you should try individualizing the ores though, right now they just look like palette swaps more pasted onto the stone texture. As for the birdmen, I was just showing off my concept, that was all. I just attached them to this uncompleted set because it was all unpacked so all I had to do was edit the textures and then zip them up again. I did want detail in the eyes though, and fortunately it worked with the tall head. Oh, by the way, the villagers have different colors according to job, so for example librarians and butchers can be part of the science team... Edited October 31, 2011 by ziitch
KDStudios
Haha... Well that was amusing xDhttp://img84.imageshack.us/img84/2963/20111031222703.png http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/1526/20111031222609.png

mccrab
Lesson: Lighting your TNT storeroom with redstone torches is a bad, bad idea. At least if you have placed the TNT in the room and not in chests. I can only imagine that the store room is now a big hole. :)
ub3rman123
Yep. It loses the effect put into a chest!
