Habassa: The RPG

To Shadow:

As you sit frozen in shock at the inn, you hear a strange woman's voice whispering to you. "Go! Fate commands you. Defy my will in this, and there shall be no end to your suffering!" As the voice fades, it is replaced by a slight pressure on your neck, as if a sword blade was being held ready to remove your head. Then it too is gone, leaving you apparently alone in the room.

To Other Characters:

Despite your concerns about silt strider size, there is no problem fitting all of you and your equipment. When you get to that end of town, suprisingly (or perhaps not, considering recent events), a silt strider is waiting. The operator waves you over, then speaks as you reach the top of the platform. "Some guy came by here, told me to hold here for you. Special trip, he said, highest priority. Now I'm as honest a man as anyone, but for the kind of money he handed me, I'd do near anything! You're lucky to have such good friend. Well anyway, I bet you want to get moving, so climb on, and watch your step there." As soon as you are aboard, the strider begins moving off towards Suran. You seem to be going a bit faster than normal, no doubt due to the operator's attempt to cover his bribe and get back on schedule. But other than that, the trip passes without incident, and by midday, you find yourselves standing at the enterance to Suran.

Kykykki stares at the gate. He has never been to Suran before. He has heard of it. The House of Earthly Delights is famous throughout Vvardenfell for its lap-dancers. There are rumours of other vices far worse. No doubt the troubled wood elf, Reylas - an unconvincing anagram of slayer - will go there straight away.

He approaches one of the guards.

"We understand that there have been bodies discovered on the road to Suran. Could you please let us know exactly where they were found."

To Corithalion, he adds "I am sorry that I did not have time to answer your question in Balmora. Events moved rather too fast. I trained in longsword for many years in Solstheim. But I only fight if I must. I prefer to talk my way out of conflict where I can. There is so much misery in the world..."

The guard has not spoken. Has he been paid to stay silent?

Elbras gets out from the Silt Strider and looks around at Suran, he had only been there once before. He takes a deep breath and heads towards where Kyrykki is speaking with the guard...

Corithalion stretches after the long ride. He looks out over the familiar sight of Suran, down upon the tradehouse, up to the manor. "Ah, Suran," he sighs. "The town you love to hate." He heads over near the guard, kneels, and adjusts the gear in his pack, quietly listening to the conversation the guard is having with Kykykki.

<ooc: sorry, your post was made at 4:30am my time! I like this game, but enough to give up that much sleep!>

To Kykykki:

Finally realizing that simply ignoring you isn't going to make you go away, the guard answers in an annoyed tone. "Yes, doesn't anyone read the news anymore? No, don't answer that, I'm sure you've got a wonderful excuse for your ignorance." He points in the direction of the road out of town. "Down that way, about an hours walk. And just so you don't get any ideas, robbing the dead's as much a crime as robbing the living. Now go away before I have you thrown in jail." With that, he turns his back on you, keeping watch on some invisible trouble spot.

Reylas follows the rest of the group down the road.

Drawing his bow and stringing an arrow to it, he comments, "I reccomend we be wary. No simple errand requires this much manpower, or for that matter the money involved."

Reylas begins scanning the roadside for ambush as they go, wary of an attack.

To All Characters:

Whatever you opinion of his manners may be, the guard's directions are soon proved correct. After about an hour of walking, you spot three bodies by the side of the road. On closer inspection, the cause of death is clear. Slash marks cross vital organs, and one body's head is lying a few feet away. The bodies show some evidence of search, various small items have been thrown around as if in growing frustration at failure to find something. The smell is almost unbearable, it seems that the bodies have been left there for several days.
