Corithalion does a duck and roll, drawing his sword at the end of the roll.

"There's something still here!" He shouts to the group. "Come out and show yourself! You've been discovered, there's no sense in dying over what may be just a simple misconception!" He motions to the group. "Gather 'round, mates, we may not see it, but we can protect against it."

To Corithalion:

As you finish your roll, a rat runs out from behind a nearby bush, squeaking in absolute terror. As the rat disappears over a hill, you notice that except for you and the others in the group, there isn't a single living thing in sight. Your shouts are answered only by the sound of the wind blowing through the tall grass.

Corithalion looks to the horizons, squinting his eyes as if seeking something far away.

"There's something here more than just a battle." He says, eyes moving to the carnage before him. "The damage was specific, and the battle was not just for loot, or else they would have taken everything. No, I sense some purpose in this. Does anyone know who these were, perhaps more importantly, what they were carrying? It just doesn't feel right to me - even gives me a chill up my spine." He stops for a second. "I can't say what it is, but it bothers me enough that I think we should increase our vigilance and treat everything as a clue, no matter how small. At night, I want at least two awake at all times and who here is good at scouting?"

He looks at his companions, and waits for a reply.

"Why ask? We were all given the same information, not one of us knows any more than you do Corithalion. though I do agree we should have set guards. I will volunteer myself as a guard until it becomes unbearable, at which I will wake one of you all up." Avelyn looks around to see if anyone agrees. Before waiting even a second, he starts talking again.

"I say we make camp uphill, and upwind. We want to see anything, and smell nothing." avelyn smiles, and then waits.

Saeroth Varole, being one who doesn't like getting in the way, chooses to keep and eye on the surrounds with one hand on the hilt to his sword ready incase an unwanted lifeform should happen to appear.

<ooc: just in case there's any confusion, I'm using divine... I mean DM intervention to bring him to the rest of the group. I guess all of you were too drunk or something to notice that he'd been travelling with you.>

Kyrykki frowns.

"Much though I hate to suggest it, shouldn't we search the bodies? Whoever was looking for something may not have found it but it doesn't mean it's not there. Or there may be some other clue. And those were our instructions - I think."

He makes a face.

"Does anyone have a 'deaden smell' spell?"

Reluctantly he approaches the first body. Turning to Reylas he adds: "If you have skills that would be of value, I could use some help."

He also looks enquiringly at the others.
