Looking for a new home

I have been playing Morrowind for about 5 weeks now. I got the GOYT edition and was wondering if anyone has a house. I usually make my home in Ralen Tilver shop. After I kill him to get the contract for his rival, I take over his shop and make a HQ. It's close to a mages guild, stilt rider, and a boat. I can D-intervention to Ebonheart so I can goto Mournhold. But, since I got Barilzar's Ring I just use it to teleport to Mournhold. My house is in a central location. My question is for the long-term players... Where is your HQ or home. And, why you think your HQ is in a good location. This question is for charaters that choose to use a HQ or home. And, if you want... tell me how you design your home. My big brother's home has blue paper lights everywhere.

My different characters have used so many different homes that I've forgotten some of them. I've used the houses you get in the main and faction quests. I've used elaborate stronghold mods at times. Other characters have lived simple lives and used existing unmodded homes.

My characters have a house or houses that fit their personality and class. There are so many house mods out there that I would sometimes try a new one with each character.

More of my characters have lived in Caldera than in any other city though. I've used several existing homes and two or three house mods there. Caldera must be my favorite City in Morrowind. :)

I just use a mod that adds crates to all the Almsivi Intervention temples. My main storage depot is Vivec, at least once I get BMB.

I don't have a mod, so I really don't know what ur talking about. But, having crates in all the Temples would be a GREAT idea. I prefer using VIvec also. Thanks for your ideas.

I have never used Caldera as a home base, but it sounds like a good idea. When I make my new character I'll make it at the drunk guy house in Caldera. Thanks for the idea of a house in Caldera. ;D

I like the Ebonheart Gentleman's Club mod. It's the perfect home base. It adds a sleazy nightclub to Ebonheart. Once you take care of some crooked guards who run the place, it's all yours! There's a room in the back with a bed and tons of storage! There's a mage who can transport you to various locations as well as one in Balmora who can transport you near the club. There's even a swimming pool. And of course the club complete with exotic dancers you can undress. And if you happen to have the better bodies mod as well, they'll be naked! You should be able to find these and hundreds of other mods at Planet Elder Scrolls.

I have a feeling that ryushenji doesnt know exactly what a mod is. A mod is a modification to the game that can add, remove, or change anything in the game. Search the internet for Morrowind Mods and you will soon find out how to work with them.

At the moment, my house is in Mournhold (the wizard that attacks you) and its nice because I can recall to it from anywhere, Almsivi Intervention over to the temple, cross the road, teleport back to Ebonheart, and it takes a total of about 10-15 seconds. Very handy. I have also used Nine-Toes' house after killing him, all of the mages guilds (most of my stuff was in Vivec laying on tables and shelves), and at one point when I had the multi-mark mod, I used a bunch of random Ashlander Yurts throughout the whole of Vvardenfell.

Its very rare that I use a mod for the house. Usually they are too inconvienant, out of the way, or just useless. I've yet to see the perfect house mod (for my character), and I've yet to make the perfect one for me. I have seen some incredible ones, they just never worked for my character's needs.

A couple other options:

The Dunmer murderer's house in Seyda Neen

The Dunmer slaver's house in Balmora

The Dunmer murderee's apartment, in Vivec, St. ? canton

The Dunmer ash-statue baker in Ald'Ruhn

The Dunmer strongholds, various locations (especially if you have the Master Index)

I'm starting to notice a trend here...

The haunted apartment in one of the Saint cantons in Vivec

The unfurnished apartment, also in a Saint canton in Vivec

One of the Daedric shrines in the Vivec underworks. Two of them have bedrooms, I believe.

Various bandit caves. East of Seyda Neen, and south of Pelagiad are the two that come to mind.

Live on the streets. Pelagiad and Balmora have public storage available.

This is without even getting into the various faction "Go kill so-and-so" quests, and without having played MW for months.

This is for the guy that thinks I don't know what a mod is...On other games on my XBOX, I use mods or what we like to call "SOFT MODS". On Crimson Skies, I use a mod for ONE HIT KILLS, INVINCIBILITY, and INFINITE BOOST & AMMO. On another game called PHANTASY STAR ONLINE, I create my own weapons, build my own character up to level 20,000 ( highest legit level is 200), and even walk around the game lobby as SONIC THE HEDGEHOG or KNUCKLES. So, I do know how to CHEAT... Cheating in an offline game to me isn't as fun as CHEATING ONLINE. So excuse me if I just want to have fun... Moding my XBOX online is better so that you can be ranked in the TOP 10... for bragging rights of course... But, moding for offline isn't as much fun. So next time I have a question, just remember that this game is an offline game and if ELDER SCROLLS came out with a MMORPG, then I'll see "YOU" online with my MOD'd PC. Oh, and for people that think I don't have a PC... I play WORLD of WARCRAFT on a regular basis... And I cheat on that game to... using BOTS. So have fun cheating by yourself... if you want real fun, cheat online... so you can have bragging rights... until next time MORROWIND GODS... on this game I'm just a peon... but follow me to an ONLINE game and you will know the real definition of the word MOD.

It apprears that I have upset ryushenji quite a bit. However, it was completly unintentional, and I will try to explain myself the best I can.

First off, I was not trying to be rude. You said:

I don't have a mod, so I really don't know what ur talking about.

And I took it as you didnt know what a mod was. You specifically stated that you dont have a mod and don't know what we are talking about. When I hear that, my brain tells me that when you don't know what someone is talking about, you probably don't know what it is.

So, I do know how to CHEAT...

The operative word in that last sentence happend to be "CHEAT". Cheating is often called hacking (I am not implying that you are a hacker either). In online games (and I have been playing online games for several years, although not as many as you), cheating is usualy done in the console or by some other means. It is done the same exact way in Morrowind and Oblivion. If you dont believe me, open the console and type in "tcl" or "tgm". Those are exaples of Morrowind cheats (minus the quotes).

Cheating in an offline game to me isn't as fun as CHEATING ONLINE. So excuse me if I just want to have fun...

I have never cheated in an online game because the main one I used to play, I was in a clan for and cheating would only have gotton me kicked out of the clan. The only thing I can say here is that cheating online is probably more fun because you are playing with other people and not pre-programmed NPC's.

Moding my XBOX online is better so that you can be ranked in the TOP 10... for bragging rights of course...

I'm a little confused here. If you are talking about modding your physical XBOX, then that is completly different. That is taking apart the console and adding to it to make it better.

But, moding for offline isn't as much fun. So next time I have a question, just remember that this game is an offline game and if ELDER SCROLLS came out with a MMORPG, then I'll see "YOU" online with my MOD'd PC.

A few things here. First off, Elder Scrolls will not come out with a MMORPG any time soon. My name is Adras, not "YOU". And a modded PC is nothing more than taking it apart and making it better or overclocking it. Possibly using some programs to make it better.

I, nor has anyone else, never said that you don't have a PC. I have a PC. Probably 70 - 80% of the people on this forum play Morrowind and Oblivion on the PC. Infact most of the time when giving help, we assume the person who needs the help is on a PC. That is why sometimes someone will talk about putting something in the console. An XBOX does not have a console (yes, it is called a console, but I am talking about something different).

I am not trying to be mean or patronizing or rude, but most of your argument was pointless. Before going off and yelling about the fact that you know how to cheat, please say something nicely. I accept the fact that you do know how to 'cheat', but on these forums, and any forum dealing with Elder Scrolls games, 'modding' is severly different from 'cheating'.

Cheating in an Elder Scrolls is (as I said earlier) going into the console (~) and typing something such as "tcl" or "player->setspeed 500". That is changing your game right then and there. Modding is completly different. For Morrowind and Oblivion (the only two Elder Scrolls that can be modded), you have to go into the Construction Set and physically sit down and add, delete, or change something from the game. If you bought Morrowind, it has a disc called the Construction Set. That has all the data files from the game on it so you can create new objects or do some other things. Most of the time, a mod adds a house, weapons, armor, town, quests or factions. They do a number of other things as well like adding new meshes and textures for an existing mesh or texture in the game. You have to save the mod to your computer. You can make your own or download one that someone else has made and uploaded to a site such as the one you are reading this on. Mods require imagination and thinking, not just the knowledge of how to insert a cheat code.

I am sorry that I may have upset you and I hope that you forgive me. I assume that you have never heard of a Morrowind mod, but I did not know that your idea of the word "mod" meant the same as "cheat". If this post makes you more mad, dont post your anger, as it will only get you in trouble. PM me. If I wanted a flame war (which is against the rules), you almost started one.

I have been working on a mod for over two years now, and if you would like to see some pictures of it to see what a mod is, go to http://adras.kermodebear.org.

P.S. I do admit that some people do nothing more with mods than cheat. They add or modify weapons just so they can use them to "pwn" a whole town.

It is quite simply a misunderstanding. Let's leave it at that. Back to the subject.

If you are playing MW on PC there are thousands of houses designed by others you may add to your game if you don't want to build your own. They can be downloaded from this and other sites.

If you are playing it on Xbox you cannot add mods of the kind we are referring to. In that case you have to take over a house in game. Of course you get a stronghold for any Great House if you finish their quests but also there are others empty or where you have to kill (oe otherwise move) the occupant as part of a quest. The Orc's house in Balmora becomes yours in a FG quest. There is a misc quest which gets you a house in Ald Ruhn (the owner joins the Temple). And of course many of the people are not quest related so you can remove them without risking screwing the game.
